The two contests between the Dynamo and the Galaxy this season were tense, tight affairs.
Back on June 28, the Dynamo visited Home Depot Center riding a club-record 11-game unbeaten
streak, while the Galaxy were tied with the fewest wins in MLS with New York (seems an eon ago
doesn't it?).

That second trivia question was a little tougher, apparently.
Far fewer readers could name one of two goalkeepers who had dressed for both the Galaxy and
Chivas USA this season than correctly answered the first question.
The answers: Miguel Benitez of Cal State Dominguez Hills and Kevin Guppy of Cal State
Northridge.

Abigail Clancy was out late last night for the UK premiere of the Michael Jackson This Is
It movie. She was rocking a gorgeous sequin mini-dress which she coupled with a hefty pair of
clod-hoppers.
No. Sorry. They just look like clod-hoppers. Of course, they're just ankle boots.

Just finished reading Dan Walker's column on BBC and his account of his time spent at Eastlands
during the Manchester City - Arsenal game.
It's a great article, but if you're pressed for time, here are 5 things you didn't know about
Manchester City (that Dan was kind enough to find out):
1.

Anfield Talk 07 September @ 12:33 PM EST
Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez has challenged troubled stars Ryan Babel and Albert Riera to prove
they have a Liverpool future.
The pair have both expressed a disappointment that they have not had more chances to impress in the
first team this season.
Babel has openly questioned the Liverpool manager's selection decisions, and suggested he wants to
go on loan to Ajax in January to improve his chances of playing for Holland in the World Cup finals
next summer.

In a daring heist last night, the boots of five Inter players including Marco Materazzi's were
stolen from the club's Pinetina training facility, says tuttomercatoweb. The only reason
they didn't get more is that most Inter players are away on International duty and, obviously, took
their boots with them.

Imagine this:
You are a player for Juan Carlos Osorio, and it is the beginning of the 2009
campaign. After a good showing in the offseason camps, you are looking forward to some playing time
for the rest of the season. As a matter of fact, you have fallen in line with the Osorio mantra;
"practice hard, and you will get playing time.

"Football scouts pick out a disproportionate number of blond players, presumably because the
colour catches the eye. This is known as an "availability heuristic" - when information stays in
your memory even though it's irrelevant."
A collection of four more such soccer related observations here.

This is a strange video that documents Zlatan Ibrahimovic's arrival in Barcelona and all the
unprotected airport waiting, starstruck grounds crew members, and pairs of acid wash jeans it
entailed.
I really can't decide if this video was filmed by Zlatan's agent or a stalker with incredible
access to the object of their obsession.

Corporate ticket touts at the Emirates do good business.
I have had the privilege and I do believe it is just that, of having a Season Ticket at our new
home for the past 2 years. A long and painful 10-year wait on the waiting list, from the Highbury
Days finally came to an end when I got the email from Arsenal saying that my wait was over and I
was to be able to choose my seat at the Grove.

Robbers lift shirts... Now we have all heard about football players being robbed while playing, but
this is something else. Normally the thieves in question target the unoccupied homes of Merseyside
millionaires. But one team in Peru suffered at the hands of criminals who broke into their stadium.
Universitario had 50 shirts and 90 pairs of [.

Or so says Ives in this post.
I'm on record in the comments of my last SBI Supporter's View saying that I wouldn't have used
the allocation for Cory Gibbs due to his injury history and cost against the salary cap (not like I
actually know what that is, of course). But I am not the guy(s) in charge of personnel over at the
HDC (that can only be a good thing) and I guess their calculus told them to pull the trigger.
