With identical 8-1 Conference records, the Joplin Eagles, Kickapoo Chiefs and Waynesville Tigers
share the 2011 Ozark Conference title. Waynesville ensured a share with their win Wednesday evening
at Glendale, a 2-1 overtime affair.
For the Eagles, it was their win at Rolla on Tuesday. From the Joplin Globe following the Eagles
win Tuesday at Rolla
Dig up all those cliches — such as "biggest win in years" — for the Joplin High School
soccer team.
In a game typical of this local derby, emotions ran high and it wasn't until the second half
before a soccer game reared it's head. With both squads affected by injuries to key players, it
would fall to strong individual efforts to create goals this evening.
The first goal came as Hunter Durham fought off a challenge for a head ball and pushed hard into
the box where he was able to reach the endline and turn towards the box.
Not yet the final day of games despite the News-Leaders claims today. Top of the list? Mike
Howard of the Rolla Bulldogs goes for his 600th career win tonight as the squad heads NE to visit
the Union Wildcats, a Class 2 program. The next opportunity would come Tuesday in the District
playoff game against Waynesville.

One regularly scheduled match and a pair of weather make-ups are on tonights calendar. The
scheduled match is Kickapoo vs Glendale, the game that counts towards Conference rankings in their
annual derby. Glendale is undefeated in Conference and a loss to Kickapoo would drop them to 8-1,
sharing the title with Camdenton.

challenger Camdenton hosting Joplin.

The race for the Conference Title is quickly coming to a close. With #1 Glendale (5-0-0) hosting
#2 Rolla (7-1-0) and #3 Camdenton (6-1-0) hosting #4 Kickapoo (4-2-0), we'll either see the a
couple of teams separating themselves from the pack or a tightening. I'll be at Glendale to provide
live reports.
Two weeks remain in the season and now is the time for teams to perform at their peak. With that
in mind, there are a pair of critical games. In District 10, Camdenton hosts Rolla
in what is likely a preview of the District Final. In District 11, Ozark hosts
Kickapoo tonight and visit Nixa on Thursday.
