Everton unable to take revenge on Benfica

This season has not started the best for Everton, so far they have been unable to recapture the form they showed last season in the league and  sit a lowly 13th. Couple this with two heavy defeats and the hands of Benfica in the Europa league and things aren't looking so rosy for David Moyes and his men.

Benfica win and Nacional draw in Europa League

Benfica and Nacional were in action today along with Sporting in the Europa League. Benfica scored two goals in the second half to defeat Everton on the road 2-0 on goals by Javier Saviola and Oscar Cardozo. Benfica crush Nacional on the way to the top

Benfica continue their roll in the Portuguese Superliga with another crushing defeat of a portuguese side. This time the team to feel the wrath of the Eagles was Nacional da Madeira who went down to an embaressing defeat 6-1. Oscar Cardozo had the hat trick scoring goals in the 17th, 48th and 89th minute the latter two on the PK, while Saviola chipped in a brace in the 40th and 61st minute. Click to continue reading...

Speculation (and I hasten to say speculation); seems to suggest that Mr. Levy's move to sure up relations with Internacional in the last window was another savvy decision from our shrewd chairman as the major press seem to have heard wind of movements which might suggest that the capture of Sandro in the winter window (to sure up the enforcing side of our midfield), would seem to place us in pole position.
