the dust has settled somewhat following Sunday's drama, and if anything illustrates how quiet

After Spurs triumphed in Saturday's Vodacom Challenge final, manager Harry Redknapp was quick to

While it's impossible to know how much to read into team selection for pre-season friendlies, it

Spurs centre half Bongani Khumalo finally made his first senior start of any kind in Tuesday
night's 1-1 draw with Orlando Pirates and by all accounts, turned in a reasonable performance.

Looking for an average representative of the Orlando Pirates' fanbase, a South African TV pundit
chose to pull this unintelligibly-slurring, 'Boney M weave'-wearing fellow dressed up to the nines
in his wife's poufy dress and apparently going by the name of 'Goodenough Shithole' to interview
after their recent friendly against Spurs.
We'll be back early next week with our fourth annual World Club Ranking pre-season edition. In the
meantime, we'll return to a place where we haven't been in a while. The past.
In 1995, we saw an end to three consecutive years in which the top ranked club of the year was the
UEFA Champions Cup (now, Champions League) victor.

Spurs seem likely to make several changes to the starting line up for tonight's game against
Orlando Pirates in an attempt to bounce back from Saturday's disappointing defeat.
However, it looks as if the home fans will be denied their wish to see Steven Pienaar in action
as he struggles to recover from a knee injury.
Finally, I am writing about a football match. Not a good match but a match nevertheless.
Tottenham's pre-season tour of South Africa, under the guidance of Kevin Bond and Joe Jordan,
started with defeat as George Lebese's stoppage-time goal earned a 1-0 win for Kaizer Chiefs.
There's no team news as such ahead of tomorrow's game with Kaiser Chiefs although we already
know that Sandro, William Gallas and Ledley King are out through injury while Giovani Dos Santos is
on international duty with Mexico.
Predictably, all eyes are on Luka Modric and there was a slight doubt over the Croatian but
reports suggest that he has shaken off an ankle knock and is ready to take his place in the
starting line up.

Modric across London, it's finally time for the boys to pull on their new shirts (they'll be
wearing the more appealing Investec sponsored ones for this competition) and get on the pitch.

Orlando Pirates sneaked the South African ABSA Premiership title by virtue of goal
difference and cruelly denied Ajax Cape Town the championship in the process.
With two points separating Ajax, who led the table going into the final round of matches, from
the Pirates it seemed that the former would clinch their maiden title, especially given that they
were at home to Maritzburg United who were languishing in the bottom half of the table.
