It's a sad and sorry looking Liverpool side that play host to Birmingham City on Monday night as
round 12 of the Premier League draws to a close.
The Reds' 3-1 reverse at Fulham last weekend took their tally to five losses in 11 league games
this season - an alarming figure, considering that they suffered just two defeats in the entirety
of the previous campaign.

climbing onto the roof of the Basilique Notre-Dame de Fourviere. The guide directed us down a

Liverpool defender Daniel Agger is taking heart from the Reds'
positive performance against Olympique Lyonnais this week, despite the disappointing result – a
1-1 draw placed the Merseysiders' hopes of progress in the Champions League in severe doubt.
"You get what you deserve in football and you have to look at closing the game down otherwise you
get punished in the way we did in Lyon," he told the club's official website.

Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez has insisted that he would like to remain as the tactican of the
Merseyside club for many more years to come.
The Reds are in a serious crisis, as six losses in seven games has threatened to throw the club's
ambitions out the window. A seventh loss - against Olympique Lyonnais in the Champions League -
would be catastrophic for the Anfield outfit, as it would be their worst run since the appointment
of the legendary Bill Shankly as manager of the club.

Two weekends ago, Liverpool thought they had reached the turning point of what has been a
frustrating campaign on all fronts. A 2-0 win over Manchester United seemed to silence the doubters
and catapult them back into Premier League contention.
Now, though, after Saturday's 3-1 defeat at Fulham (and the League Cup loss to Arsenal), it's back
to panic stations for Rafael Benitez and his men as they look to resurrect their Champions League
campaign.
