Ian Barker has been a star in soccer coaching education here in the United States, and yesterday
was offered the ultimate opportunity in that arena when he was selected as the Director of Coaching
Education for the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.
"Ian is the perfect choice to lead the NSCAA's coaching education program to new heights," said
Cummings.
United FC midfielder Jaime Colin was named to the Region II team for the U.S. Youth
Soccer 1996 Boys Olympic Development Program Winter Interregional in Bradenton, Fla.
The event starts Thursday, with matches scheduled against each of the other three regions.
Region II faces Region I on Friday afternoon, Region III on Saturday afternoon and Region IV on
Sunday morning.
Vuk Latinovich of the Milwaukee Kickers scored as the 1997 Region II team closed the U.S.
Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program Thanksgiving Interregional with a 2-0 victory over its
Region I counterparts Monday at the Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, Calif.
Latinovich opened the scoring in the 19th minute for Region II, which won its final two matches
after losing to Region IV 2-0 in its opener.

Wind Lake's Luka Prpa (North Shore United) and Fox Point's Jack
Shaw (Bavarian SC) started play at the U.S. Soccer Under-14 boys national team
identifcation camp Sunday at the Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif.
Prpa and Shaw are among 80 players born in 1998 and '99 selected to train twice daily under the
direction of Under-14 boys coach Manny Schellscheidt during the six-day camp.

There has always been a 'High School versus Club' debate between groups on both sides of the
discussion of the best place for young soccer players to ply their trade, but a recent initiative
from US Soccer could escalate this debate to all new heights.
Ten Wisconsin boys and at least three state girls were invited to U.S. Youth Soccer Region II
Olympic Development Program holdover camps this month.
Players are selected for the holdover camps, which are used to select the regional ODP teams,

The 2011 Region 2 Boys Camps are being held in Overland Park, KS this week. The Camps bring in the
State teams from Region 2 offering age group competition between the teams and leading to what is
termed the Holdover Camp where individual players are invited to stay and participate on a Regional
level squad.

Springfield Soccer Club has announced that a trio of their players have been added to the Missouri
State ODP squad. Nicole Ortega (Catholic HS), Kasey Opfer (Glendale HS) and Aspen Hawkins (Central
HS) (Alternate) have made the 95 Girls ODP State team.
Earlier this month in Woodbridge, one of the area's top soccer players, Dario Redondo, sat in
the stands watching No. 7 Gar-Field High School, a team for which he used to star, cruise to a 5-0
win.
One night later in Fairfax, Langley forward Josh Ellis charged from the top of the box as a
blocked penalty kick rebounded into the area and smacked the ball into the net, helping lead the
second-ranked Saxons to a 3-0 win in the district playoffs.

The Springfield Soccer Club is excited to announce the hiring of Tim Davis. Tim comes to
Springfield from Park City, UT where he was the Assistant Director of Coaching for the Park City
Soccer Club. Tim has worked with all ages of the club, and has specifically been working with and
improving the girls side of the club.
