The FA Fails To Secure TV Deal For The FA Cup

The loss of Setanta Sports during the summer didn't only have knock on effects for the Premier League, although that was the story which hogged the headlines at the time. The Scottish Premier League had to negotiate a new (and reduced) deal with Sky Sports, the Blue Square Premier started the new seasons without any television coverage at all and the FA were left seeking new partners for the FA Cup.

In the penultimate part of our exhaustive Football League pre-season preview, Rob Freeman looks at the runners and riders in League One, a division which is, peculiarly, starting to look a little bit like the bottom half of the Premier League did ten years ago.

Meanwhile The Real Latics beat Macclesfield Town in a friendly at Moss Rose last night, 2-1.

Oldham Athletic's injury crisis worsened on Good Friday when 7 foot mascot Chaddy the Owl (better known as 34 year old Wayne Hurst) fell off a BMX bicycle when attempting an ill-advised wheelie prior to the League One tie with Carlisle United.
