He may be older than time, the universe and Joan Rivers put together, but put Alessandro Del
Piero in a position that doesn't require any feat of physical exertion of any kind and he can still
produce the old magic, as the Juventus leggenda duly proved with his superb goal during
the Old Lady's 3-0 Coppa Italia win over Roma last night his first of the season.
Eighteen matches into the season and Juventus are undefeated and sitting in first place. Everything
seems rosy red, or pink (like their away shirt), in Turin. While Juventus find themselves in an
ideal situation heading into the second half of the season, their rise to the top has been much due
to their own good work as it has been to many of their rivals' failure to truly assert themselves
as.

So yesterday, the 16th of December, AC Milan celebrated (I don't want to know how) 112 years of
a glorious and rich history spanning back from the club's foundation as The Milan Cricket and
Football Club in 1899 to the present. As a tip of the hat to this fine sporting institution, I will
dedicate this post to that faction of Milanese society that is eligible to play for another fine,
some may say finer, institution, the Italian national team, one half of the pure and unabridged
reason for this blog's existence, the other half being to spread evil rumours about a defenceless
old lady.
Another exciting match is upon on us Monday when two of the historically best teams in Italy
collide in the country's capital, as Juventus travel to face Roma. This will be the Old Lady's
fifth game in a little over two weeks. Juventus are coming in with blistering form as they continue
to get positive results.
The return of Juventus as a force in Italian football has coincided with the arrival of Andrea
Pirlo on a free transfer and with former club captain Antonio Conte assuming control of coaching
duties. Both Pirlo and Conte have been influential in Juve's rise with the former Milan midfielder
proving indispensable in several matches while coach Antonio has helped revive the squad's damaged
spirit.

Though this is starting to become a cliched opening line, I am sorry. It seems that a few lines
in my most recent offering have deeply offended vast swathes of our friends at the Juventus

Juventus sent out an ominous warning to everybody in Serie A that they mean business as Antonio

This season's Serie A campaign has saw a number of different teams fighting for dominance, as
perennial challengers Inter and Milan have started slowly. Juventus sit on top of the pile after
seven games, but their newfound confidence will be tested with tricky away fixtures in Milan and
Naples.
The worst kept secret at Juventus, well at least up until this week, was that this season would
be the last for the Bianconeri's legendary captain Alessandro del Piero. The 36 year old will say
goodbye to a team he has served for nearly two decades and hopefully the clubs is planning a bit
more pomp and circumstance then we have seen so far.
For Juventus supporters, it is hard not to be inspired by Antonio Conte. The passion and
intensity shown by the Old Lady's new commander is infectious, for the players on the pitch as well
as the fans in the seats. He has done well in his first five games, but I fear there just might be
icebergs ahead and the captain needs to be ready to chart a new course if needs be.
Juventus: Old Lady, new lease of life is a post from: Just Football
by Gianfilippo Scarpati
The 8th of September 2011 marks an historic date for the old lady of Italian football. The
opening of a new state of the art stadium is every bit reflective of the new lease of life she has
had breathed into her.
The Old Lady's hot start continues and this time their victims were defending champs AC Milan.
Claudio Marchisio with his brace was the hero. The new Juventus Stadium is proving to be a lucky
charm as Juve sit on top of the Serie with Udinese. AC are in 15th position and Inter are two
places behind.
Gazzetta dello Sport Turbo Juventus! Marchisio brace defeats Milan. Old Lady go first Rocchi
stopped for two or three games, but it's a no to an Inter veto Udinese still top with super Di
Natale Palermo and Cagliari fly Lazio strike, Fiorentina KO Tuttosport Immense Juve Milan dominated
and trounced aside from the 2-0 Marchisio double, stadium to scream about: Bianconeri first Udine
also top.
Yes, we were lamenting the lack of goals for a good part of the Juventus-Milan
fixture yesterday until signore Claudio Marchisio (and
those pair of eyes) stepped in to score twice for Juventus! With a name like
that, the whole of Turin will not be sweating over his complimentary one week
risotto.

Last week, Juventus unveiled its new stadium, called Juventus Stadium until naming rights are
sold. The 41,000 seat stadium is smaller than the Old Lady's previous home, the Stadio delle Alpi,
but that is a good development in that there is no longer a running track between the fans and the
pitch.

Juventus cracked open their brand new, €120 million, 41,000-capacity eponymous stadium on the
site of the old Stadio della Alpi with a lavish ceremony in Turin last night...
The Old Lady then rounded out the night's proceedings with a 1-1 draw against special guest
opponents Notts County, i.
Juventus inaugurated their new stadium with a visual smorgasbord. In one of the classiest
gestures in living memory, they invited Notts County who gifted the Old Lady their signature black
and white pinstripes in 1903 after responding to a sartorial emergency which would have doomed the
Turin club to wearing pink and being confused for Palermo.
Juve been busy The Old Lady of Italian football has not been quietly knitting during the recently
closed transfer window. Manager Antonio Conte's wheeling and dealing amounted to a staggering 14
players coming to Turin, while five went out the door. In: Reto Ziegler (Sampdoria, free),

For most clubs in Italy, finishing seventh in Serie A for two consecutive seasons would be
considered a positive result. But for a club like Juventus, it is nothing short of a crisis. Since
their banishment to Serie B, Juventus has lacked the consistent top-of-the-table finishes they had
become so used to, and as a result have lost their status as a european giant.
Juventus has been very busy this summer, something we are all used to by now, but it seems their
business is not yet concluded. Earlier this week club director Giuseppe Marotta revealed the Turin
giants are looking to sign at least two more players before the transfer window closes next week,
an enticing revelation for supporters.
Hamburg rejects Juve bid for Dutch winger
After signing striker Mirko Vucinic last week, Juventus has turned its attention towards filling
the hole the team has on the left wing. Over the last few days the focus of their search centered
on Hamburg's Eljero Elia and a deal was reportedly close to going through.

The door is certainly revolving at Juventus. Yesterday began with the club announcing the
arrival of Chilean midfielder Arturo Vidal in Turin for a medical. Vidal is set to join the
Bianconeri from Bayer Leverkusen for a fee of 10.5 million euros.
And as Vidal enters, Felipe Melo exits.
I'm not a Juventus fan, and, yes, Juve hasn't recovered from the troubles of 2006, but it's good to
see The Old Lady in the United States.
Alexis Sanchez Deal to Barca Finally Done?
It appears the dismantling of the best Udinese side in recent memory continues, as star Chilean
winger Alexis Sanchez appears to be finally off to Barcelona. Despite the fact that Udinese
earned a Champions League spot this season, it is hard to blame the club for this sale.
Midfielder Tiago Mendes has signed a permanent deal with Atletico Madrid after his contract with
Juventus was terminated earlier on Wednesday.
Tiago's Juve deal was ended by mutual consent after the 30-year-old failed to make an impact in
Turin, and he has now begun a two-year contract at the Estadio Vicente Calderon where he had a
successful loan spell last season.

Pique does not get on his broom and fly away at the end - which is a bit disappointing.

As we enter July, the summer transfer market is sure to ratchet up to a fever pitch. Over the
next few weeks we will focus on the top targets who may potentially make a move to or with Serie A.
Today we focus on one of Italy brightest young stars, Giuseppe Rossi.
Born in Teaneck, New Jersey, Rossi began his professional career when Manchester United
purchased his contract from Parma as a 17 year old.
El Tri Femenil are in trouble.
13 - GOAL! Slight height advantage for Japan - they're a bit taller on average for Mexico, comes
into play on this set piece as veteran Sawa outjumps the defense to put the ball past Ceci

15 - GOAL! This time Ohno splits a pair of defenders and puts the ball up high.
The annual carousel of potential transfer targets is spinning once again in Turin as Juventus
look to try and build a title contending team. As is the summer tradition, star players from all
across Europe are being linked with the Bianconeri. But while the flashy names are splashed across
the headlines, club General Manager Giuseppe Marotta and Juventus are quietly going about the
business of fixing what really needed to be fixed.

Whenever a club appoints a successful former player as manager, many in the media wonder why
clubs the world over turn towards what appears to be nothing more than sentimentality in the
selection process for perhaps its most important employee. And, quite honestly, I understand this
criticism.
It was a little surprising that with all the big names touring the U.S. this summer, that no
Italian were involved. Well that changed with the news that Juventus, the 27-time Italian champion,
will play three friendlies in America in late July.
Only one of the three games has been formally announced and it is a good one.
