The search for Freddy Adu's 2009/10 loan club, that is. Odense BK have broken off talks with
Benfica, though nobody is talking much about the reason.I don't have a great deal of info on this
scene yet, but it's still early in the day. What I do know is the amount of salary OB would need to
pay was an issue; whether that means Benfica were being foolishly cheap or Adu foolishly
shortsighted

A few quick notes that I hope to add to as the day progresses:- Odense BK remain in loan talks for
Benfica's Freddy Adu. And yes, I am still trying to pinpoint exactly who is/was his Dutch suitor,
which will allow me to figure out whether they remain in the picture or not. As of right now, it
seems they are not.

Another post held back from Monday, but fresher and larger for it...#1 - I'm sure you're all
wondering about Freddy Adu's situation, so I'll tell you what I know in nutshell form of what I
can/am willing to air .I've had two trusted separate Euro-birdies tell me that the Odense BK loan
was probably going to be sealed by the end of the week.

Freddy Adu's lengthy quest for regular playing time may finally be coming to an end.
The Washington Post is reporting that Adu is on the verge of a loan move to Danish club Odense
BK. The reported one-year loan being discussed would potentially provide Adu with the
regularyplaying time he has been unable to find since leaving MLS two years ago.

The following players have been known to have played abroad during the past 12 months, but have
since disappeared. There are also players I am looking for some further information on, in an
effort to track their careers and ensure whether or not they should be on Les Rosbifs. I would be
extremely grateful for [.

The Danish league has started weeks ahead most of the other European leagues and several
Americans are already making an impact. Jeremiah White and Benny Feilhaber all play in the league
and were in action on Monday night. The Swedish Allsvenskan started in April and is currently in
the middle of the season as American Alejandro Bedoya has found recent success playing for
Orebro.

Disappointing news from Denmark, with the announcement that Rohan Ricketts will not be offered a
contract by Odense BK of the Danish Superliga. The right-winger, who was on trial late last week,
impressed club management but Lars Olsen, the OB coach, felt that his team already had sufficient
strength in midfield.

A few updates on members of Les Rosbifs, some potential members and some who have appeared or
disappeared from the list in recent days. Some recent discoveries have originated from emails
received or through the good people on the SI Games community forums. An interesting case was
brought to my attention by Mike Crocombe via email, [.

There are strong rumours coming out of Denmark tonight that former Toronto FC winger Rohan Ricketts
is on his way to Odense BK of the Danish Superliga. Ricketts, who was released by the Canadian MLS
side in June, arrived on trial at the club today, with a club source saying he impressed the
coaching side.

Aston Villa surprised many neutrals last season, and probably even some of their own supporters,
with their 6th-place finish. In 2006-2007, the Villans checked in at a respectable 11th, a nice
improvement from 16th the season before. Villa's emergence, led by manager Martin O'Neill, came
with one of the smallest, if not THE smallest, first team rosters in the Premiership.

The draw for the UEFA Cup Second Qualifying Round was conducted this morning, and the two English
clubs involved at this stage in the competition couldn't have come away happier. Both should defeat
their respective Scandinavian opponents and advance to the First Round without too much
difficulty.
After seeing off EB/Streymur in the last round, Manchester City will open this tie at home against
FC Midtjylland.

A summer filled with video highlights here continues with Ashley Young's stunning goal in Aston
Villa's 1-0 victory over Odense BK yesterday. The win sealed Villa's place in the UEFA Cup second
qualifying round, and Young sent the home crowd into raptures with this right-footed drive from his
usual left wing position.

Martin O'Neill has warned Liverpool he is ready to set a deadline for them to meet his valuation of
want-away Aston Villa skipper Gareth Barry.
O'Neill insists Villa cannot continue to be at the "behest" of the Merseysiders who have
failed to offer the £18million he is seeking for the England midfielder.

I have to admit, when I got home yesterday and saw that Scott Carson had been sold to West
Bromwich Albion for a grand total of 3.25 million pounds (depending on benchmarks, that fee can
rise...to only 3.75 million), the lunch I had just enjoyed with Kartik Krishnaiyer of the American
Soccer Show nearly escaped me.

Gareth Barry's Aston Villa nightmare deepened last night when the Midlands club claimed they had
rejected a new bid from Liverpool.
But Villa insist the offer from Anfield was not the £17million one widely reported earlier
yesterday.
Liverpool also denied they had made a £17m bid, and insisted it was "not their final
offer".

Odense 1 (Timm 62') – Hertha 0I called it, and indeed, not only did Odense hold out against Hertha, they even managed a home win,
easing their way into the UEFA Cup group stage.
Odense's tactics were easy to guess: Having managed a draw and two goals in Berlin, the Danes were
going to play it coy.
