Pill-ow talk Freiburg's club doctor has revealed he once received a 3am phonecall from a player who
wanted to check he wouldn't be breaking doping rules by taking Viagra. Doctor Andreas Aust proved
he has plenty of patience for his patients by taking the call and giving the mystery player the
all-clear to play the [.
Paul Dickov insists his Oldham side will look to attack when they chase an FA Cup upset against
Liverpool on Friday night.
A second-round replay victory over Southend at Boundary Park in December booked a mouthwatering
trip to face Kenny Dalglish's side for the Latics, who currently lie 14th in League One.
Is Group C of the Euro 2012 finals Croatia, Italy, Ireland and Spain the most catholic group in
international football tournament finals history? That thought occurred with the fourth team in two
of next summer's groups still to be drawn out and Italy's and England's balls still to be opened.
When Saturday Comes magazine asked the question of one of the 2002 World Cup finals groups – also
involving Italy and Croatia, alongside Mexico and Ecuador so it wasn't an original thought (when I
have one, I'll surely let you know).
This is insane Master engraver Graham Short has come up with a unique way of personalising football
boots, albeit we can't see it taking off. The miniature engraving expert has etched the names of
every England player to find the net at a World Cup from 1950-2010 into the bottom of a metal stud.

LA Lads: Former local Fox Sports commentator Max Bretos, former Galaxy GM Alexi Lalas and
Chivas USA's Alejandro Moreno are the in-studio team for the 7 p.m. Seattle Sounders-Real Salt Lake
match as the MLS Playoffs resume on ESPN tonight.
It appears fans are responding to the MLS playoffs this year, games that have traditionally
struggled to draw decent crowds on relatively short notice.
*Staff Wiriter Phil Collin has the preview of the 7 p.m. game (live on Fox Soccer and
Galavision).
Watch the Galaxy video preview:
More on Wednesday night's CONCACAF Champions League action is here and here.
In other soccer news this morning:
*There's no playoffs for D.
Three points behind co-group leaders Morelia and Alajuelense in CONCACAF Champions League play,
the Galaxy face a must-win game at 7 o'clock tonight at Home Depot Center against the Mexicans
(live on Fox Soccer and Telefutura).
Realistically, if the Galaxy don't win - a tie wouldn't help them much - their international
campaign is all but over, but they may have to play Morelia without three of their key players.
Dealing as I am with the untimely loss of my laptop due to the motherboard melting down, i just
have time to note that:
*The Galaxy plays the Colorado Rapids tonight in Carson (live at 8 o'clock on Fox Soccer
Channel) a couple of games into a grueling schedule against a team chasing a playoff berth.

Liverpool midfielder Charlie Adam insists that playing regularly will always trump big wages.
The Reds midfielder began his career with Scottish giants Rangers and remained at Ibrox for six
years, during which time he was sent out on loan on three occasions.
The last time the 25-year-old was dispatched on a temporary move elsewhere was to Blackpool in
2009.
Playing football more important than money for Charlie Adam
"There's no better feeling than walking out at three o'clock on a Saturday to play football"
says Liverpool midfielder

*David Beckham's affection for Manchester United won't allow him to play for Tottenham Hotspur
or any other EPL team once his MLS contract ends.
*Chivas USA fans are still waiting for the club to make any sort of movement in the transfer
market, but Saturday night's opponent in Carson, the Houston Dynamo, have been busy and could
showcase a new face at Home Depot Center.
The chaps landed in Seff Efrica this week. And if that fact alone didn't knock you off your
swivel chairs then wait until you hear they've pencilled in an actual football match for this very
afternoon. With linesmen and everything. Northern riot forecasters, The Kaizer Chiefs, primed and
ready for their three ‘o clock appointment in the balmy Jo'burg sunshine.

*The massive, renewed interest in the U.S. Women's National team has prompted ESPN Radio to air
Sunday's World Cup final between the U.S. and Japan.
It's the first time ESPN Radio has ever aired a Women's World Cup game.
Head and shoulders above the rest: U.S. forward Abby Wambach scores the latest goal in a
game in Women's World Cup history and sends the quarterfinal against Brazil to penalty kicks in
Germany (AP Photo).
It was quite simply, one of the most enthralling, drama-filled, soccer games I've ever seen.
There was a bit more money about when the fifth Women's World Cup took place. And the BBC was
quite prepared to spend it on more extensive coverage of the tournament than the anglo-centric
focus they are boasting about this time around. It probably wasn't just the football that attracted
the Beeb's attention in 2007, although England's improving squad were worthy of it anyway.
The most annoying thing about today's friendly match between Venezuela and the world champions of
Spain in Puerto La Cruz, Venezuela, was its lousy hour: at 4 o'clock in the afternoon most people,
including myself, are still in the office, and I had to walk out to see the second half of the
first half.
Kenny Dalglish gave teenage debutant John Flanagan just two hours notice of his Premier League bow
last night, then praised the youngster for a "fantastic" display.
The 18-year-old was handed his first senior experience against Manchester City, in direct
competition to England winger James Milner, and played a major part in the Reds' clean sheet.
By Kirsten Schlewitz /
Senior West Coast Beer and Aston Villa Correspondent(A note on Kirsten's thought process: "Beer. Champions League. Beer and Champions League. Beer
for Champions. Wheaties Beer?" And then the lovely Commie, who you've seen around these parts,
suggested wheat beers.
Regular readers of this blog will be aware that I am a long time Arsenal supporter, having
first stood on the Highbury terraces over 50 years ago, a time when seats were basically for the
well to do and, as they would have it in those far off days, the bosses.
The workingman stood on the terraces; this was his place, and his fiefdom.
With just one win on their travels this season in the league so far and having lost eight games it
is surely too much to hope for that Wolves will come away with anything at all from their trip to
Eastlands today. So Manchester City, will barring some sort of minor miracle be lording it over the
rest of the division come five o'clock tonight.
With all the personal arrogance and Euro-centricity he could muster, which is quite a lot, all
told, Alex Ferguson dismissed the leading international football tournament of the world's most
populous continent in those four words. But the tournament which started in Qatar on Friday is
rather more important than that.
