Venue: White Hart Lane. Date: Saturday 11th Feb, 2012. Kick-off: 5.30pm. Referee: Andre Marriner.
For Newcastle United, this was a day to forget started poorly, defended poorly, played poorly"
Those words uttered by Sir Alan Shearer just about summed up this game for us. To be fair, Alan
equally poured lavish praise on the [.
Venue: St James'Park, NE1. Date: 5th February 2012 Kick Off: 1.30pm Referee: Mark Halsey. Well, it
was another three points in the bag for the Magpies as they passed the supposedly "magical" 40
point mark, with no less than 14 games of the Premiership season to go. Apart from this though, the
most obvious salient [.
This match saw the welcome return of Captain Coloccini, and also the absence of Yohan Cabaye a
victim of trial by television and the London FA earlier in the day. Chris Samba was missing from
the Blackburn Rovers line-up following the club's failure to release him during the January
transfer window clearly fit [.
Venue: Amex Stadium, Brighton Date: 28th January 2012 Kick Off: 5.15pm Referee: Lee Probert Quite
simply, this was a game United should not have lost. Even with the cautious tactics employed by
Pardew we were clearly a class above, dominated 75% of the game and had a penalty appeal for a
blatant handball turned down.
Venue: Craven Cottage, London. Date: Sat 21st Jan, 2011. Kick-Off: 3:00 pm. Referee: Lee Mason
(Lancs). If ever you want to see a textbook example of "a game of two halves", get the DVD of this
game. though personally, it's a video horror show I'll be steering clear of. United went into this
game sitting [.
Venue: St James' Park, Toon. Date: Sun 15th Jan 2011. Kick-Off: 1:30 pm. Referee: Chris Foy. United
came to this game on the back of 2 excellent straight wins against Man Utd 3-0 (got that one in
early today!) and Blackburn 2-1 in the FA Cup. In contrast, Queens Park Rangers had taken only one
[...]
A tale of absent friends made this cup tie somewhat less of an occasion than it could otherwise
have been. We knew that Demba Ba and Cheick Tiote wouldn't feature in this game, but when Blackburn
lined up without Yakubu and Samba that was a bit of a bonus. Also missing was Paul Clement, [...]
A goal from Demba Ba, a free kick from Yohan Cabaye and to add to Man Utd's misery an own goal by
Phil Jones sees Newcastle United take all three points at St James' Park. The match started at a
lively pace and it was pretty much box-to-box stuff for the first half. [...]
Bolton Wnaderers 0 2 Newcastle United (Hatem Ben Arfa (69), Demba Ba (71) Newcastle United were in
their all black strip for this game, and enjoyed the backing of 4,000 travelling Geordies who
pretty much took over the ground at least in terms of noise! As a result of the Toon Army being
[...]
Going into this game, United were without Steven Taylor, Danny Guthrie and Sylvain Marveaux through
injury. Dan Gosling and Yohan Cabaye were both missing through suspension. Alan Pardew decided to
play Haris Vuckic in midfield to replace Cabaye, otherwise the team was unchanged from the Swansea
game.
Highlights of the game. 11 minute highlights of the match. Swansea were defending very deep in the
first half of this game, with Newcastle United keeping the Swans pinned back in and around their
own box for quite a few spells. However as the second half rolled on, Swansea did make something of
a comeback.
Highlights of our disappointing 4-2 defeat at the hands of Delia Smith's Canaries at Carrow Road.
As usual, I will endeavour to update these when better, longer ones become available. Alan Pardew
went into this game matching his opponents with a two big lads upfront appraoch, forsaking Ben Arfa
for the silky skills of Shola [.
Venue: St James' Park, Newcastle. Date: Saturday 3rd Dec, 2011. Kick-off: 12.45pm. Referee: Mike
Dean. Newcastle made just one change to the side that drew 1-1 at Old Trafford last weekend, with
the suspended Jonas Gutierrez replaced by Peter Lovenkrands. For the 13th time this season,
Newcastle United were able to field the same defence [.
Venue: Old Trafford, Manchester. Date: Saturday 26 November, 2011 Kick-off: 3.00pm. Referee: Mike
Jones (replaced Phil Dowd). After such a great result was over-shadowed by the deeply sad news of
the death of a true Geordie Legend, Gary Speed, I've found it very hard to commit to a match
report. It's with a heavy heart [.
Newcastle United lose their unbeaten record for the season to Manchester City with 2 penalties and
a few hundred million pounds making all the difference. First Half We got off to a promising start,
attacking from the off up the right. Sammy put in a poor cross through and it eventually went out
for a [.
Long match highlights of yesterday's Newcastle United v Everton game. Also includes post match
interviews from Alan Pardew, David Moyes, Ryan Taylor and pundits analysis from a certain TV
highlights show. Below The full post match interviews with Alan Pardew and David Moyes. If you are
having problems playing the interview videos below, it [.
Venue: Britannia Stadium, Sir Stanley Matthews Way, Stoke-upon-Trent. Date: Monday, October 26th,
2011. Kick-off: 8:00pm. Referee: Mike Dean. Demba Ba's second hat-trick of the season powered
Newcastle United to a 3-1 victory at the Britannia Stadium and up to 3rd place in the Premier
League. Stoke usually start apace at home but it was us [.
Newcastle United suffered a Carling Cup defeat at the hands of Blackburn last night after, but only
after we scored 2 goals in injury time at the end of full time, forcing the game into extra time.
There simply weren't any feeds to last night's game and the best we could do was find radio [...]
Venue: St James' Park, Newcastle Date: Saturday, October 22nd, 2011 Kick-off: 3:00pm Referee: Neil
Swarbrick. A fairly lacklustre first half was followed by a livelier second half that saw Yohan
Cabaye get his first PL goal and Newcastle United snatch victory by the narrowest of margins. The
first half looked like it was going to [.
Venue: Molineux, Wolverhampton Date: Saturday, October 1st, 2011 Kick-off: 3:00pm Referee: Mark
Halsey Goals: Ba (17), Gutierrez (38), Hammill (88) In what was quite possibly the most exciting,
and surprisingly nerve-wracking Newcastle game so far this term, some brilliant individual
performances, and more than a little help from referee, Mark Halsey, helped Newcastle United ascend
[.
Demba Ba got his Newcastle goal tally up and running against Blackburn on Saturday at Saint James'
Park in sensational fashion. After early indifference from some, when he was not quite up to pace
due to his religious commitments, he's slowly started to build his fitness. He started to show some
of his movement, touch [.
A Demba Ba hat-trick sees Newcastle United cruise to a 3-1 victory over Blackburn Rovers and
maintain their 4th place in the Premier League. On paper we should be the better team this season,
but Blackburn have a record at St James' Park second only to Manchester United in the Premier
League, so the superstitious [.
Aston Villa 1 (Agbonlahor 13) Newcastle United 1 (Best 57) Both teams went into this game unbeaten
in the Premier League so far, but with the Magpies four places ahead in the table through an extra
victory, with nearly all of Aston Villa's games being draws. And so it proved today once again.
Despite being [.
Venue: Loftus Road, London. Date: Monday, Sept 12th, 2011. Kick-off: 8:00pm. Referee: Phil Dowd. I
don't think it would be unfair to say that Newcastle United were very, very lucky to pick up a
point here, in a match which saw Quuen's Park Ramgers utterly dominant in the first half, and still
on top in [.
11 minute match highlights. Post match interviews Alan Pardew praises Leon Best and Tim Krul, and
is well happy with Newcastle United's start to the season. Martin Jol bemoans Fulham's inability to
capitalise on their chances. NUFC Blog match report.
After the kick off of this disappointingly attended home game (42,684), a fairly congested midfield
quagmire seemed to be the order of the day in the opening section thanks to Newcastle, who once
again got off to a very disappointing start. Looking on the positive side though, Best almost
fashioned a chance for himself in [.
Messrs Ryan Taylor and Ameobi Junior spared United's blushes at Glanford Park, as Newcastle battled
back from a goal down at half-time to put their name in the hat this Saturday for the League Cup
3rd round draw. As I found my way to the turnstiles, and to get me in the mood for the [...]
From the kick off of this League Cup evening game, Scunthorpe came out of the traps giving
everything while Newcastle seemed to be treating it as some kind of training game. Once the dye was
cast, the Magpies just couldn't seem to get back into the first half, except perhaps a little in
the last [...
Match highlights. On a rare sunny day in the dark underbelly of the North East, Newcastle had to
negotiate an early derby game full of expectation amongst the deluded locals. Such is the optimism
after shelling out a fat wedge on a new bunch of fair to middling or overaged players. As was to be
[...]
Extended match highlights. In what seems to be somwthing of a tradition now, Newcastle United faced
their usual stiff test against one of the 'top four' clubs in their first game of the Premiership
season. Those who might have been expecting a repeat of the last fixture against the Gunners were
to be disappointed.
In a match that seemed more suited to swimming trunks and armbands rather than a football kit,
Newcastle and Fiorentina braved the atrocious weather in order to win the final friendly of
pre-season. Plumes of water shot up from every foot fall, a wake of rain tracked the ball through
it's journey around the hallowed [.
Leeds United 3 (Patrick Kisnorbo 5, Lloyd Sam 66, Billy Paynter 85) Newcastle United 2 (Steven
Taylor 35, Haris Vuckic 77) Apologies if this report is very belated this time, however recent
events concerning a certain Mr.J.Barton, and other things got in the way. However I spent quite
sometime on it, so I'm going to [.
Heat problems, turf issues and a collection of cartoon characters stood in the way of today's game.
Undeterred, Newcastle United went to watch a game of football and that's about all they did.
Immediately after kick off, the lads were forced to defend as Orlando City threw everything they
had at us.
Newcastle United get their US pre-season tour underway with a 0-0 draw against Sporting Kansas City
and Ben Arfa is stretchered off with a leg injury. The 100 degree Fahrenheit climate was described
as 'brutally hot' in Kansas as Newcastle lined up to take on Sporting Kansas City in the first of
three matches as [.
Although this was the last game of the season, with both Newcastle United and West Bromwich Albion
safe for the season, one would have thought that the 'Baggies' would have had something to play
for, not least finishing above local rivals, Aston Villa, in the Premiership's final reckoning.
There was also the chance for West [.
With Newcastle ensuring safety for the season, but incapable of securing European competition, and
also with Manchester United finally securing the Premier League title yesterday, there should have
been something of a 'dead tubber' feel about this game. It was not to be though. It was Newcastle
Gutierrez and Ameobi who kicked off the game, [.
Match highlights. I shall endeavour to update these with longer and better ones when they are
available. With Newcastle ensuring safety for the season, but incapable of securing European
competition, and also with Manchester United finally securing the Premier League title yesterday,
there should have been something of a 'dead rubber' feel about this game.
Although Newcastle United were looking pretty safe with 41 points with three games to go, I think
it could be said that this was still an important match for the Magpies, not just in terms of
ensuring safety beyond all doubt with a win, but also in terms of morale. With some slightly
disappointing late [.
On a warm Sunday in the North-West in what seemed like little more than a training ground game,
Newcastle came away with nothing. The game started with the air of a bit of a stroll for both
teams. With Newcastle sporting the white away strip, I had a distinct feeling of foreboding about
this match. [.
Well what a great game which ever way you look at it! It was pretty much excitement from the kick
off. Newcastle had to start with Tim Krul replacing the injured Steve Harper in goal, but also
welcomed back Cheik Tiote from his two game suspension. Steven Ireland started on the bench and
Danny Guthrie [.
