The Chicago Fire announced that Mike Matkovich and Leo Percovich will return to the club as Frank Klopas' assistant coaches for the 2012 season. Matkovich rejoins the Fire as an assistant coach, having previously served in the role for the club from 2009-10. The fact that Klopas is bringing Matkovich back on suggests that there was some kind of rift between Matkovich and former Fire head coach Carlos de los Cobos.

Seniors Logan Andryk and Patrick Hodan, who helped lead Milwaukee Marquette to its second consecutive WIAA Division 1 state title, were among 33 players named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America Boys High School Scholar All-America team.

The college soccer season is around the corner and the NSCAA has released its Hermann Trophy watch list to provide a guide of players to keep an eye on during the upcoming campaign.

The list managed to leave off Louisville striker Colin Rolfe -- a Hermann Trophy finalist last season -- and Notre Dame and United States Under-20 midfielder Dillon Powers -- a consensus top prospect and Generation adidas candidate -- while including current New York Red Bulls (and therefore no longer in college) defender Sacir Hot.

Big East Conference women's soccer coaches picked West Virginia to finish ahead of Marquette in the American Division this season.

But the voters on the National Soccer Coaches Association of America poll like the Golden Eagles just a little bit more than the Mountaineers.
