Managerial "Sack Race"
EDP24 "...The bookmakers don't rate [Norwich] City's chances for promotion this season - and one company has him down as a 16-1 shot to be the first Championship manager to be sacked this season.
Roeder is rated at 16-1 to get the elbow from Carrow Road, although it's another former West Ham manager, Alan Pardew, who SkyBet reckon could be the first to pick up his P45. Click to continue reading...

Sunday Galaxy Gameday: The Knives Are Out

13

The Galaxy are ugly and getting uglier.

Sniping. Name-calling. Signs of locker room discontent. Is the Galaxy big enough for all this?

This is a team whose confidence looks shot and whose players are riven with doubts.

The basic question: how can a team with David Beckham, Landon Donovan and Carlos Ruiz in the line-up not only look so bad in Sunday's tortured 4-1 loss to Dallas, but have failed to win in the last six games?

Pipe Dream: Jason Shackell from The Hills to Silicon Valley

0
Before I really begin this post let me preface it by saying, "no one is asking". By that I mean I know that no one is asking me what I think MLS should do in regard to signing players nor would I ever feign being qualified to tell anyone over there what to look for in a player. I say this because I don't want this post to come across like one of those that you read on some other blogs where a guy who's got less access and insight than the janitor at HDC tells you who Chivas USA should sign, so please don't take it too seriously. Americans Know Nothing

1
Continuing the excellently homogenous style that STT is quickly becoming synonymous with, we stay in America today to highlight the press unveiling of one of English football's unsung heroes. For those of you outside of East Anglia, it probably slid under the radar that ex-Norwich winger Darren Huckerby was tragically snubbed a contract extension this summer and basically forced out of the club he's supported all his life. How Not to Interview a Footballer

Snippet: Norwich in for "QPR's" Gorkss?...QPR 'Revisionism'?...Ferdinand's Interview (Continued)

Obviously an impossibility because it's been categorically stated on QPR messageboards that Gorkss to QPR is an absolute, categorical done deal (and even more than that!}. Although as this has dragged on and on, various posts have suggested something else. The article also speaks of QPR "are understood to be offering him eye-watering wages" which is at least the second article which spoke of the high wage QPR were offering Gorkss. Unconventional retirement

The day before the transfer window opens, we have a great "only in MLS" story: New England's Chase Hilgenbrinck is giving up soccer to join the priesthood.

In terms of surprise retirements, that ranks alongside Tampa Bay's R.T. Moore, who left the Mutiny to go to dental school.
