Diving or embellishment has been an issue in soccer for a long time. FIFA have started to hammer down on diving recently by issuing yellow cards to players who embellish a foul. In North America, Major League Soccer implemented fines and suspensions in 2011 for diving. The league's Disciplinary Committee reviews possible embellishments after games and can distribute fines or suspensions accordingly.
Oh boy. This could be the start of something or at least some start of mass craziness today on
Twitter.
The North American Soccer League or NASL has announced that in 2013 they will go to a
split-season format.
Beginning in 2013, the NASL's regular season will feature two separate and distinct round-robin
competitions with the winners of each competition meeting in a single game on the weekend following
the conclusion of the second competition.
By Dario Camacho - MIAMI, FL (Aug 10, 2012) US Soccer Players -- There is a gap that Major League
Soccer is trying to bridge. Consider the nineteen existing teams as satellites floating on the vast
landscape of North America. Each team is a self sufficient, independent identity, part of a set of
niche markets that have entrenched soccer followers, groups, fans.
By Charles Boehm - WASHINGTON, DC (Aug 1, 2012) US Soccer Players -- Naturally, last week's MLS
All-Star Game was all about the big names, as Chelsea's European champions challenged David
Beckham, Landon Donovan, and the rest of the North America-based blue-chippers to show their best
in front of an international audience.
New York Red Bulls midfielder Tim Cahill chose the Major League Soccer over a return to his
native Australia not only because of his desire to experience living in New York, but also because
he is fully convinced about the league's quality.
The MLS has been praised by many for its rapidly increasing standards and the growing list of
big names it is attracting but others have dubbed it a retirement venue for veteran stars to end
their careers.

The 2014 World Cup may still be almost two years away, but that doesn't mean it's too early to start thinking about when you might be watching all of the tournament's matches.
On Friday, FIFA unveiled the dates and times of each and every one of the 64 games that will be played in Brazil in 2014, and the schedule will prove quite favorable to fans in North America.

Now, my queue of matches to watch on ESPN3 is growing by the day, but let me comment anyway on things I have yet to see. Mexico scores first for North America, and so happy to see that, since I sorta predicted they would, because--hey--not every team attends a World Cup tournament just to sing and dance.
Now, Mexico, I'm sure, might have something to say about North America's settling when they face New Zealand tomorrow, and let's hope they do. However, both the U.S. and Canada decided to fight for a point in Azerbaijan today, and I guess that's better than the opposite if you're a supporter of either team.
Obviously this is some sort of wrestling move. And if there is an international football Hall of

That's right, you cover your face! What happened, Team of Choice? Sandra D'Angelo comes up huge with
her penalty shot shutdown, and Jenna Richardson follows it up with a beautiful goal. This had the
makings of a great victory over the Scandinavians!
Then I see, what, via FIFA.com highlight reel: a defense looking lackluster, a keeper
nutmegged--Norway's goal.

Liverpool has accepted an offer from Fiorentina for out-of-favour midfielder Alberto Aquilani.
The 28-year-old had been expecting to be given a chance under new manager Brendan Rodgers after his
failed loan spell at AC Milan, but the club accepted an undisclosed fee over the weekend.
Aquilani did not travel back to England with the rest of the Liverpool squad after their tour of
North America, and has instead made for Rome, where he will meet with Fiorentina to discuss a
transfer in the next 24 hours.
Liverpool is waiting to discover the extent of midfielder Lucas Leiva's thigh injury amid concerns
that he could be out for up to two months.
Lucas came off five minutes into Sunday's 2-2 draw with Manchester City after having felt the
injury during the warm-up.
Manager Brendan Rodgers initially thought the 25-year-old had pulled a muscle, but is worried that
it could be a tear that would keep him out for between six and ten weeks.
Liverpool midfielder Joe Cole believes that the style of football Brendan Rodgers wishes to
implement at Anfield will suit him.
Over the past two seasons, the creative midfielder has been castaway from the Merseyside club,
spending the 2011-12 campaign on loan at Lille.
The England international has been involved in Rodgers' pre-season plans, however, and thinks that
he can make an impact this season.

Plenty of reports have swirled about Liverpool's interest in Clint Dempsey, and while manager

that an official offer had been made.
Brendan Rodgers could not hide his excitement at the prospect of embarking on Liverpool's
pre-season tour of North America when he spoke to Liverpoolfc.com just before the squad departed

Rodgers and his team will spend two weeks stateside preparing for clashes against Toronto FC in
Canada on July 21, AS Roma at Fenway Park on July 25, and Tottenham in Baltimore on July 28.
Liverpool FC departed for their North American pre-season tour today, but not before challenging

of the more famous franchises suggests otherwise.
