A trip to Goodison Park is just the tonic needed following our recent troubles, namely a
bizarre, referee-induced three-goal collapse at home against Manchester United.
Wait, what? We rarely win at Everton? Shit.
Mean muggin'
We have actually won at Goodison this season, a 2-1 victory in extra time in the League Cup.

So it's "arrivederci" to Mr Capello and with that once again The FA are in search of fresh man
with fresh ideas to manage the England football team. The now infamous "impossible job" is waiting
ominously to be filled by a brave managerial soul and the national media appear to be in no doubt
as to whom that man should be, yes it's the half human half bloodhound hybrid, Harry Redknapp.

Who would want to be the England manager? It seems far more trouble than it's worth. The Three
Lions' new caretaker boss, Stuart Pearce, is now feeling the heat from the nation's press, after
his brother's far-right views were once again highlighted by the newspapers.

Here is my thinking:
1. Harry is battered and bruised after the court case, just look at the interview this morning
outside his home in Dorset. Think all the media pressure and the cushy job at Spuds, no doubt a
massive pay rise and more money for players to come from Levy will mean... thanks but no
thanks.
FC Barcelona booked their place in the Copa Del Rey final with a 2-0 victory against Valencia at
Camp Nou. Goals from Cesc Fabregas and Xavi gave Barca a bit of nervous victory. Now the final will
be against Atletic Bilbao, between the two most successful teams in the Copa Del Rey history.
Today's announcement at Southwark Crown Court means that Spurs manager Harry Redknapp is free to
resume full duties at White Hart Lane. We are therefore unlikely to see a repeat of Monday's game
at Liverpool where Harry was absent due to transport problems and it's likely that all the players
will be happy to see his familiar face in the dugout.

It took a cool £8million to get the case to this stage, where a joyful Harry Redknapp walks
free from Southwark Crown Court and back to Tottenham and their title charge. Hardly a sensible use
of money?
While Arsenal fans will no doubt be crying into their free-trade cappuccinos, Sky Sports News
will no doubt be breathing a sigh of relief.

As you no doubt remember, former Italy battering ram Christian Vieri is appearing on the
Italian version of 'Strictly Come Dancing With The Stars On Ice-Factor' at the
moment with his latest routine, a Brazilian Capoeira (a dance based on a strain of martial arts,
made famous by Tekken's Eddie Gordo), showcasing all the grace and mobility he displayed on the
football pitch during his last few years as a pro, i.
Following Paul Scholes' return from retirement and Manchester United's issues settling in a new
number one goalkeeper, Edwin Van der Sar has revealed people have been asking whether he has any
plans on doing the same.
"I got a few text messages from friends saying, 'What about you?'," Van der Sar
said.
There's no doubt that after his performance and goal against Aston Villa in his debut on Sunday
afternoon that Papiss Cisse is currently the Toast of the Toon. The new Newcastle hero thanks
fans after Sunday's win Newcastle have now won four of their last five league games, and the
only real let-down was that second half at Craven Cottage.
Liverpool will no doubt be dissapointed with the result given that they dominated the majority of
the game, Spurs fans however, myself included, will no doubt be happy with a well battled away
point.
Liverpool pressured us all over the pitch and hemmed us in forcing top backs to the wall defending
throughout, mixed in with a helping of luck.
Over England way, John Terry has been stripped of his national team captaincy. The move comes in
the midst of Terry's ongoing prosecution for racially abusing Anton Ferdinand, with a trial on the
incident set for the summer. Terry's leadership of England was under question before, but the
controversy surrounding what he allegedly said to Ferdinand was the tipping point for removing him
as captain.

I think we can safely say this morning that's just what the doctor ordered.
Three points, a good performance, and a day which brought no controversy, animosity, angst or
worry. For a moment it looked a bit shaky, when Pedersen equalised with Blackburn's first attempt
on target, but instead of setting us back it sparked us back into life and withing a couple of
minutes we were two goals to the good.
No doubt you've already seen the horrendous footage of Al Masry fans storming the pitch to attack
Al Ahly players and supporters. In case you haven't, it's in the video above. Absolute carnage
broke out when Al Masry secured a 3-1 victory over their fierce rivals. The home fans many of them

When one of your own is in trouble, you reach out a helping hand. Despite his achievements,
Harry Redknapp has never found a place in the hearts of the Spurs faithful. Last night it was more
than an outstretched arm for support. No, he was firmly clasped to our bosom to feel safe and warm.
We stroked his hair and soothed, "There, there.
1. No, Roberto Mancini, you completely misheard Arsene Wenger. He said a pizza row would help you
finish ahead of Manchester United, not Pizarro. 2. Chelsea's deal to send Belgian manboy Kevin De
Bruyen back to Genk on-loan includes a break clause that says if the 20-year-old hasn't hit puberty
by June then the deal [.
Bright Eis
Did anyone really expect Wenger to burn holes in Arsenal's chequebook this month? The general
climate in football hinted at no, the fact that Arsene is our boss said no, and the apparent need
for backup up front or at the back said – haha – no. No no no.
And I'm not talking about Beckham's 2-year $15 million contract.
I'm talking about Omar Gonzalez. Last month Omar pulled out of the national team training camp
for a very exciting loan move to Nurnberg. His very first day there he suffered a season ending
injury at the hands well, feet of his USMNT teammate Timmy Chandler.

Finally getting himself out of the courtroom and into familiar environs of a football stadium,
Harry "I'm not a wheeler-dealer" Redknapp no doubt enjoyed seeing his charges stroll to a 3-1
victory against Wigan.
But just what was the Tottenham boss saying under his breath after noticing that 'the filth'
were in his manor, keeping an eye on him?

Everton 1-0 Manchester City Premier League 31st January 2012
Roberto Mancini's nouveau riche Citizens just can't seem to put any decent daylight between them
and their Manchester rivals in the race for the title.
Here at AANP Towers we are inclined to pay short shrift to those who shuffle our way with
puppy-dog eyes and quivering lower lip, complaining of bad luck. "You makes yer own luck," we have
been known to roar, with such ferocity that the aforementioned puppy-eyed, lip-quivering urchins
have literally exploded into a ball of flames before our eyes; or else we invoke the barely
perceptible murmur of a true testosterone-fuelled hero like that chap Stallone, and instruct "Take
it like a man"; or indeed we sagely impart the sporting wisdom of some aged American golfing chap,
and intone with zen-like calm "The more I practise the luckier I get".

By J Hutcherson - WASHINGTON, DC (Jan 31, 2012) US Soccer Players -- There's something vaguely
unsettling about the final day of the January transfer window. We watch a sour European friends
become the equivalent of the person trying to set a competitive eating record. It's intriguing, no
doubt, yet at the same time slightly disgusting.

With a name that makes us all thank the stars for 'copy and paste', Pavel Pogrebnyak looks set
to move to west London in one of the biggest deals so far in this rather moribund transfer
window.
The Russian international striker has never been the most prolific of strikers, however, the
imposing forward is best utilised as a targetman who can hold up the ball, and he'll no doubt be
confident of making a (hard-to-spell) name for himself at Craven Cottage.
It's beginning to feel like the Dynamo are fighting against the city they call home in order to
attract players to sign with the club. Houston is of course a great city, we all know that, but
there are clearly issues making it hard for the team to get players to sign on the dotted line and
play here.
News that Jose Mourinho could be about to de-camp to yet another club will no doubt result in
managers at some of Europe's top clubs looking over their shoulders. It was ever thus. Mourinho is
of course hugely successful; his wins to games ratio at 69% is astonishing, that's an incredible
ll% higher than Ferguson's - though, it's true the United manager has been around for a lot longer.

Arsenal 3-2 Aston Villa FA Cup 29th January 2012
With Aston Villa going in at half-time two goals up, Arsene Wenger would no doubt have been
preparing himself for a mountain of abuse from the Emirates crowd for the rest of the
afternoon.
Luke Freeman was heavily involved in the winner

The president of the Ecuadorian football federation suggests that the tournament would feature

The long substitution
It's finally confirmed, the news that we did not want to hear. That Jack Wilshere has had a
setback and would not be available in the date that we initially had hoped he would be back for. AC
Milan's games were touted as his return period but that will now have to be extended.
Sing along now: "There's only one Arsenal."
Or not.
Fans of the Gunners familiar with only the Premier League, or the top four leagues in England,
might know a few teams from other countries. Mostly, this has been due to the Champions League
being televised so widely. Crazed football fans may watch more games, including from the top
European leagues in Spain, Italy, Germany and France but, for the most part, naming three teams in
Denmark might prove to be a challenge.
There's no doubt that Hatem Ben Arfa is one of the most exiting players that Newcastle have
on Tyneside at the moment. A trivia question in the years ahead what has Ben Arfa just achieved?
As we all know the Frenchman has had a tough time of things since he arrived in August of 2010,
and he was out almost a year with that [.
There's no doubt that Newcastle will go all out to win their FA Cup 4th round tie at Brighton
tomorrow, in a late game that kicks off at 5:15pm tomorrow. Alan Pardew taking the Cup very
seriously Newcastle have not taken the Cup competitions that seriously, especially over the last
four seasons, where we have been more interested in our league position than [.
Witch hunts, apathy, delusion and greed, all pathetically wrapped up in an unshakable belief in
a divine right to win. Recognise it? Of course you do. Unfortunately it describes many so-called
Arsenal supporters, who today stand supreme amongst football folk in their ability irrespective of
the injury situation and short of any real knowledge of the internal politics or financial
situation facing the club, to defame our great clubs name just by confessing their poisonous
support.
Some good and some bad news for Salomon Kalou today at the Africa Cup of Nations.
We'll start with the good, the real good. Kalou opened the scoring for Côte d'Ivoire in their
2-0 win against Burkina Faso tonight. Peep Sal's excellent volley in visual form below.
The volley was the cherry on the top of what was another fine performance from the rarely used
Chelsea vet.
I don't know if you've noticed, but January has been pretty awful so far. We've lost all three of
our league games, and we've gone back to our old habit of throwing away leads. United swept us
aside with an ease that was almost saddening, given how massive the games between the two clubs
used to be.
It's been a long week for Harry Redknapp and the manager will no doubt be delighted to get back
to football affairs as Spurs take on Watford at Vicarage Road tomorrow night. Reports today are
confirming that Harry will be in the dugout and he will pick the team but who is available to
choose from?
Ecks-iting news!Well that was surprisingly fast! After hearing about the "99%
certainty" of Richard Eckersley's return to Toronto FC since late November, it took less than a day
after his "Ecks'ual release" from Burnley to finalize a permanent move to Toronto.
The Reds officially announced the deal just hours prior to their big media day event, no doubt
steering the news of the day onto the English defender.
Steven Gerrard recognized the contribution of Craig Bellamy after Liverpool beat Manchester City
3-2 on aggregate in the semi-finals of the Carling Cup.
The Reds booked their place in the final against Cardiff by playing out a 2-2 draw with City at
Anfield on Wednesday - to maintain their advantage after a 1-0 win at the Etihad Stadium a
fortnight ago.
