Tottenham Ready to Call It Quits on £6m Giovani as Besiktas Enter Race

Caught Offside 27 August @ 06:55 AM EST

Time to consider options?

Reports in Greece, claim website IMScouting.com, suggest Olympiakos plan to offer Tottenham's Giovani Dos Santos an escape route on loan but they face competition from Turkish rivals Besiktas who are keen on the Mexican misfit. (Daily Mail)

It appears that the Greek side Olympiakos are only interested in a loan deal for the young Mexican but the Turkish outfit Besiktas would be interested in signing the £6m attacker on a permanent deal, perhaps Harry Redknapp is better off opting to send the former Barcelona man out on loan because the 20 year old has undoubted potential but could well suffer the fate of a good many Tottenham players who were at the club prior to the former Pompey manager's arrival.

Weekend Quiz Answers: Who Were Those Champions?

The Offside 15 March @ 02:00 PM EST
This one was tougher than I thought it would be, since if you#8217;re playing in Champions League you#8217;re pretty much by definition a well-known player, but eventually 9 out of 11 did get guessed. No Stopping Them

Twohundredpercent 26 June @ 01:38 AM EST
In the end, then, Turkey didn't have quite enough about them to be able to keep Germany at bay but, lord, they have given us some fabulous memories in this tournament and will be sadly missed in the final on Sunday evening. Germany, by contrast, are in the final of another major tournament without having played particularly well last night, and will face the winners of tonight's match between Spain and Russia. In the News

Fantasy EPL 23 June @ 10:50 AM EST

  1. Rovers 'excited' by Ince - Perhaps this is continuity by any means necessary? Ince another branch of the SAF coaching tree and could bring a similar approach/tone to Rovers that Mark Hughes did.
  2. Milan confirm Adebayor focus - Don't know how much of this is bluster, but Arsenal really need to hold on to K2.

La "Furia Turca"

Futblog 20 June @ 11:44 PM EST
Euro 2008 Croatia v Turkey Preview & Prediction

First of all, let me say what a super performance Germany gave last night. They tactically outclassed Portugal from the get go and thoroughly deserved their win. Round up of the final group matches

Festival of Football 2 18 June @ 05:29 PM EST
Well we're through to the knock-out stages and the final round of the group stages threw up some excellent matches even though all four group winners had already been decided thanks to UEFA's use of 'head to head' results rather than goal difference to decide between teams on equal points.
It was also great that only two teams, Switzerland and the reigning champs, Greece, had been definitely eliminated with one match to play. Click to continue reading...

Chelsea ‘keeper has the perfect excuse for his craptastic gaffe

Caught Offside 17 June @ 07:39 AM EST
When it comes to steaming tripe, the footballing press and internet rumour-mongers are the usual culprits. Slowly but surely, the records are being broken. It feels as if, one by one, new legends are being created on an almost daily basis at Euro 2008, and last night we had a new one to add to the list: the greatest comeback by an international team in the finals of a competition. To be honest about it all, the first seventy-five minutes of last night's match between Turkey and the Czech Republic were fairly ordinary. Click to continue reading...

Five players that caught my eye this week

Football is for the Madman 21 September @ 05:25 PM EST
Nihat Kahveci, Villareal
Apparently I'm behind the times on this guy, but I'm glad I finally caught up with the rest of the world. For a midfielder, the Turkish International is a goal-scoring machine. Villareal makes a highlight video in one match (video)
