Earlier in the week the group stages of this year's Africa Cup of Nations concluded and, before
we go any further and the sadly unavoidable 'why cover this pointless tournament?/the quality's
terrible' mentality begins to set in, let me just go on record as saying that some of the
performances and matches I have seen in the past two weeks have eclipsed anything I have seen in
our beloved Premier League for a very long time.
Tunisia The team to beat at Africa Cup of Nations 2012? is a post from: Just Football
My latest African football column for FourFourTwo looks at Tunisia and
whether they are the team to beat at this year's AFCON:
For a team that could just as easily be sitting at home watching on TV, they made a pretty good
start.
Arsene Wenger has ratified Arsenal's summer tour of Nigeria. The under-fire Gunners manager gave
his blessing to the ground-breaking trip and pen was put to paper at the Emirates on Sunday as the
club hosted a delegation from the African organisers of the tour.
Arsenal officials met Nigeria Local Organising Committee (LOC) for the planned visit which will
be the club's first ever visit to Africa.
Camer煤n, Nigeria, Sud谩frica Argelia y
Egipto
2012.
Arsenal will go to Nigeria as part of this summer's pre-season tour.
With Ivan Gazidis announcing that this year's Emirates Cup would be postponed due to the London
2012 Olympics, the club will head to Africa with the objective of extending the Arsenal brand in
Nigeria as well as the African continent as a whole.
Word has begun circulating that Chelsea are expected to close the signing of Gary Cahill in the
next 48 hours. More, after the jump:
English Recruits
So, this one looks like it'll finally be finished. The worst-kept secret of the winter is coming
to its final hours, after an apparent break-through in negotiations took place Sunday evening,
during which Chelsea representatives were able to reach a consensus with Cahill's agent.

This is a common saying about football in Arabic, and it has a lot of truth in it. When there is a
trusted keeper in the team, he gives the whole team the confidence and balance to go forward and
win. Spain is enjoying these days the fun of having the best keeper in the world. Everyone
remembers the great saves Casillas did in the WC final, or the PKs vs.
Arsene Wenger is considering taking Arsenal on a tour Nigeria next summer, it has been claimed this

Arsenal delegation will meet senior figure from the Nigerian Football Federation to discuss the
possibility of the Gunners making the trip to Africa at the end of the season.

Well there is a turn up for the books. I was certain that Arsenal would be doing a tour of the
United States now that Silent Stan is the owner of the club, but it has been revealed today that
the Gunners will be doing a tour of Africa instead! The big African sports site [...]
African Cup of Nations 2012: New Cote d'Ivoire Home Kit is a post from: Just Football
More from PUMA's African football 2012 kit launch now on Just Football, with a
look at the new C么te d'Ivoire home kit. Undoubtedly one of the favourites for the
African Cup of Nations 2012 in a few months time considering the absence of other big names such as
Nigeria, Cameroon and Egypt, C么te d'Ivoire will be hoping this will be the kit that sees the
Elephants finally cement their as yet unsecured position as one of Africa's best international
sides of the last decade.
When questions of cheating and the Under 17 World Cup come 'round, usually it's more "Why does
Nigeria's defensive mid using a cane?" rather than "Where's the beef...for testing purposes?"
Luckily, the tournament was held in Mexico this year, which means questions of tainted food were
never going to be too far off.
Yet another teenager being lined up for a move to Arsenal, but this one is slightly different
because he has already an experienced international as he has won 10 full international caps at the
tender age of just 19. Ahmed Musa plays for VVV-Venlo in the Dutch Eredivisie, where he has already
played over 30 [.
After a horrendous Africa Cup qualifying campaign that saw the Super Eagles bundled out of the
2012 footballling showpiece, Nigeria coach Samson Siaisa has pleaded with his country to give him
more time to find his winning formula.
Nigeria failed to make it to the biannual tournament for the first time since 1996.
Not a prayer Peter Odemwingie has blamed Nigeria's failure to qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations
on a faith healer who told them they wouldn't make it. The West Brom man said: "The prediction of
Prophet TB Joshua really affected us. We thought we could see him and see how he could overturn the

Nigeria is apparently shit. Thank the sweet lord.
Hanging out in January
Apologies for not getting this up early. Most of us were doing the full-time job thing when the
news broke. Me, I was doing some low-rent promotion at a local mixed martial arts event with a good

Adidas first teased us about their new 'intelligent' boots when Lionel Messi took to the field
against Nigeria in a pair a few weeks back, but the big day has finally rolled around with the
official launch of the new adiZero F50 miCoach boots an eye-catching (that's putting politely)
piece of footballing footwear design which incorporates a nifty little microchip in the sole, thus
giving the 165 gram boot a 'brain'.

Granted, this one's for borderline-hardcore football boot aficionados, but to those who may be
interested, those dirty flirts over at Adidas have titillated our imagination emerging from the
undergrowth, tugging on our sleeve and whispering in our ear that the gaudy boots that Lionel Messi
wore against Nigeria on Monday were in fact 'intelligent' and that they contained a 'super-secret
micro chip' before disappearing again into the night.
Argentina disposed of Nigeria 3-1 in Bangladesh on Tuesday. Among the highlights was a certain
Lionel Messi robbing a certain John Obi Mikel at midfield, and turning said theft into a supreme
goal for the La Albiceleste (via Angel Di Maria).
It's all good, John. We still love you.

World Player of the Year Lionel Messi was back in the Argentine fans good-books
after his mesmerising display against Nigeria helped them to a 3-1 win in Dhaka last night.
Only a few months back Argentine fans booed Messi off the pitch at the end of their 0-0 draw
with Colombia in the Copa America, but it seems all is forgiven for now at least as his every touch
was cheered in last nights friendly victory over Nigeria.

There are subtle ways to go about sneaking a photo with the world's premier footballer. Doing so
in front of a rolling camera is not one, it would appear particularly with the flash on.
And it could also be argued the linesman looks amply skilled, perhaps a talent cultivated by
experience, at the low-angle-point-up-and-shoot camera method of surreptitious photos.

Lionel Messi has just posted this insane assist against Nigeria in Bangladesh, nabbing the ball
on the half-way line, stripping past three or four defenders while holding them all at bay before
seeing his angled shot palmed into Angel Di Maria's path for an easy roll-in.
