The Arsenal legend Nigel Winterburn thinks that Arsene Wenger has taken a gamble by signing Thierry
Henry, but thinks it will be excellent if he can impress the fans and reproduce his past
goalscoring heroics, but he is als leaving himself open to criticism if it all goes wrong!
Winterburn said: "I hope everything works [.
Arseblog has teamed up with Thomas Cook Sport, official travel partner of Arsenal, to offer a
double Christmas treat for four lucky fans. We've got a pair of tickets for the Barclays Premier
League games against Wolves on Monday 26th December 2011 and another pair for the QPR game on
Saturday 31st December 2011.
Morning all,
with the job well and truly done in Europe the attention can now turn back to the Premier League
and tomorrow's game against Fulham. The early team news is that we don't appear to have lost anyone
after the game against Dortmund. Koscielny's withdrawal was due to 'fatigue' and beyond the short
and long-termers there's nothing new to report on that front, which is good to hear.
This Sunday sees Tottenham coach Clive Allen join the England Legends taking part in Nivea for
Men's Great Football Experiment this weekend. Clive and a team of fellow ex pros take on the might
of Ivory FC, from the Brentwood Sunday Football League. I'll be interviewing Clive and you can
submit your questions for the Spurs legend by replying to this post.
Former Gunners left-back Nigel Winterburn has shared some varied thoughts in Arsenal's ability to
defeat Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Saturday. Speaking to Goal.com, the ex-defender said, "Van
Persie only needs half a yard to work the ball into a position where he can shoot at goal with his
left foot, and I won't be [.
In the wake of Sven Goran Eriksson's opinion that Arsene Wenger would be the ideal next England
manager, bookmakers have installed the Frenchman at odds of 25/1 to take over from Fabio Capello
when the Italian's contract is up next year.
Needless to say, few people will be in agreement with Eriksson's opinion and anyone with a brain
cell will not really believe this will actually happen, moreover there is no way that the Arsenal
boss would even consider taking the post (fortunately for England fans).
Today all Gooners must do their duty. They must recall the greatness of the past and temporarily
cast aside the divisions that recently have weakened the Arsenal Faith. If you feel that you can't
then let me try to get you to understand why you support this club. What ever your age, I want you
to recall the Arsenal Legends for whom a day like this was the day to sweat blood for the
cause.
For a long time now, the media have portrayed us as a club in crisis. Over the last few years,
Arsene Wenger's methods which were once admired and revered have been questioned and put under
scrutiny. We, as Arsenal fans are very loyal to Wenger as we don't – or can't – forget all the
great work he's done in the past.
Arsenal has long been associated with impregnable defences. Superb organization and fantastic man
marking defenders were the hallmarks of many an Arsenal triumph over the years. To watch Arsene's
defenders during the last two seasons have proven to be quite painful. Tony Adams, Martin Keown,
Steve Bould and Nigel Winterburn must all be wondering how it has gone so wrong.
I really haven't got the heart to go through the papers this morning. I haven't the slightest
desire to read the depressing reports of the Arsenal's 4-3 defeat at the hands of Blackburn in the
Premier League encounter.
Neither do I want to read AW's post-match musings. 'Cos, let's face it we don't need
reminding.

Twenty two years this day the league title hung in balance as Arsenal needed two goals to win

Alan Smith got them going but one goal was not going to be enough and as each tense moment
ticked by it was looking like Liverpool had sealed league victory.
