Match Of The Week: Aston Villa 2-1 Chelsea

Twohundredpercent 18 October @ 02:11 PM EST

There's something afoot in the court of Chelsea. After a start to the season that carried on the way that last season ended (high octane football mixed with the arrogance of the club that knows that it is amongst the best in Europe), they have started to look just a little bit ropey of late.

Martin Samuel: It's Tough At The Top For Benitez After Losing His Alonso X-Factor

Anfield Talk 05 October @ 01:07 PM EST
The last English team to lose three of their first eight League games and go on to win the title were Manchester United in season 1966-67. We all know what happened next.
For those who believe in lucky omens, it stands to reason that from here Liverpool will collect their first title of the modern era in May and lift the European Cup at Wembley the following season. Click to continue reading...

Of Tumbling Men and Crumbling Reputations

All Four One, and One Four All! 04 October @ 11:45 PM EST

Words of wisdom
Pepe Reina: For me, Fernando Torres is a better striker than Drogba
Rafa Benitez: Stop Drogba, and you stop Chelsea.

Some people just never learn. Sigh !

So, here we were again, similar occasion, similar circumstances. It was at this same stage last season when Liverpool ended Chelsea's 86-game unbeaten home run courtesy of a deflected fluke goal by Alonso.

Champions League roundup

The Beautiful Game (2) 01 October @ 06:24 AM EST
Group A
Bayern Munich and Juventus played to a 0-0 draw in Germany. Apparently the home side dominated, but got nothing out of it but an injury to Arjen Robben. Bordeaux got a late winner at home to beat Maccabi Haifa 1-0 on a header by Michael Ciani (83').
Group B
At Old Trafford, Manchester United came back from a second-half deficit to beat Wolfsburg on goals by Ryan Giggs (his 150th with the club) and Michael Carrick. Click to continue reading...

Keane Divides a Country Again

Football Digest 09 September @ 05:33 AM EST

40 not out

Robbie Keane divides opinion on this island more than most of our sporting icons.
