Liverpool legend Steven Nicol has expressed his disappointment over Liverpool's ineffective
performance against Manchester City last night.Kenny Dalglish's 'tactical' approach of hoofing
balls up to lone Striker Andy Carroll was never going to be successful, especially when he was up
against quality defenders like Vincent Kompany and Kolo Toure.
The New England Revolution recently parted ways with long-time head coach Stevie Nicol, and it
appears they are going to stay within the Revs family for their new coach.
The Revs are preparing to name former defender Jay Heaps as the team's new head coach, the
Boston Globe reported on Monday.
Anfield legend Steven Nicol has lambasted Daniel Agger for publicly questioning the commitment of
his teammates after the poor Premier League performance against Swansea City.
Agger, who clearly forgot about the Liverpool principle of never washing dirty laundry in public,
labelled his colleagues 'headless chickens', but the comment that really got on Nicol's nerves was
the following:
"I think everyone was angry and disappointed, some more than others, but that is the way it is"
Nicol, who won the PFA Player of the Year Award in 1989, blasted:
"I don't think there's discontent in the dressing room but I think there's something wrong with him
[Agger].
Finding a replacement to fill the enormous shoes left behind by its most decorated manager in
club history will be no easy task for the Revolution front office. That is a given.
But, the organization won't be at loss for possible suitors. Although the Revolution may have
posted a franchise-worst five wins in 2011, there's still a number of talented players on the
roster that could merge under a new manager.
In his ten seasons in New England, Stevie Nicol oversaw the most successful run in Revolution's
history. But, after the club's record sharply regressed over the past two years in particular, the
writing was on the wall: it was time for the gaffer to go.
Many will remember that Nicol's debut came in 1999, when he replaced the last storied Revolution
manager the Spiderman himself, Walter Zenga for the final two matches of the season.
Ferdinand loses kiss-and-tell privacy action against the Sunday Mirror
Justice Nicol said: "Overall, in my judgment, the balancing exercise favours the defendant's
right of freedom of expression over the claimant's right of privacy."

Every week the New England Soccer Today crew will look beyond the standings to rank each of
the 18 Major League Soccer (MLS) teams. This week Brian O'Connell and Sean Donahue contributed
rankings. Comments are followed by the ranker's name and the rank they gave that team.

Hello friends, and welcome to the Columbus Crew vs. New England Revolution live game thread.
This match will be a true test for the Revs as they head toe Crew stadium, in the heart of Ohio
State University, and look to extend their recent unbeaten road streak, despite a hard fought loss
to Chivas USA last weekend at Gillette Stadium.
After watching last night's MLS matches several things have stuck out for me. Sore points,
frustrations, points of notice and this that please me... here are a few things to consider.Kyle
Beckerman is a fighter.
RealSaltLake showed who they are, or rather, who they can be. The absolutely tore apart the New
York Red Bulls at Rio Tinto Stadium.
With a headline like that, what year is this again?
I experienced that connection with Stevie Nicol and Bob Bradley. They believe in me, and they
know I'll run through a brick wall for them, and I do miss that. I haven't felt that way in Europe;
I haven't felt that connection with a manager that when the chips are down and you're going into
battle that I'm a guy they look to try to make things happen.
Missed opportunities and miscommunication in the attacking third continue to be the name of the
game for the New England Revolution as they fail to get any points against a red hot FC Dallas team
out in Frisco, TX.
The team saw the surprising return of their consistently injured Frenchmen, Didier Domi and Ousmane
Dabo, as they made their way to Nicol's starting XI.
According to an official team release this morning, New England Revolution captain Shalrie
Joseph has accepted his call-up to the Grenadian National Team for this summer's CONCACAF Gold Cup.
He (along with USA international Benny Feilhaber) will play against the Galaxy on Saturday before
departing for his country's camp.
Stevie Nicol was all smiles in the post-match press conference tonight, and why not? Three
points, no matter how earned, are always the desired haul at home and the New England Revolution
managed to get that.
The general consensus, though, is that it came following a worse performance than last week's
draw against Colorado.

across the pond SFurnivall weighs in on how he became a New England Revolution fan from thousands
of miles away.
So it hasn't been a brilliant start to the 2011 MLS season for the Revolution. The Kings of the
1-1 tie followed up their first defeat, a frustrating one against ten-man Real Salt Lake, with a
1-0 loss at Houston, and have only ticked the win column on one occasion.
Sorry I'm late, Sunday was a little hectic.
I hope none of you are satisfied with Saturday's performance. One point is better than none,
certainly, but an expansion team on a long road trip that has conceded five goals in their last two
league matches should be easy pickings for a club looking to be a playoff contender.
If this pre-season is the time when Chef Nicol creates the Revolution main dish that will be
served for the MLS 2011 season, then it's clear that the meal is still half-baked.
Here on Soccer Soap Box I have occasionally counted on the contrasting perspectives of
situations being "Half Full" or "Half Empty" in game reviews, and will apply a modified, point by
point, version for reviewing where the team is so far this pre-season.
What is it with Scotsmen on draft day? There must be something about being "on the clock" that just
makes those bhoys go absolutely batty because they seem to be the most habitually-active players
come draft day. Seriously, if you thought Mo Johnston was unique you'd best think again.
