More than 13,000 fans turned up to see the San Antonio Scorpions in their home opener, but that was one of the only positives the first-year team could take away this weekend.

The Scorpions failed make their first home match a memorable one for their fans, as they suffered a 4-0 defeat to the Puerto Rico Islanders in front of a sold-out crowd of 13,151 at Heroes Stadium in San Antonio, Texas on Sunday.

The Islanders won a ticket to their 2nd League Finals as they defeated the Whitecaps tonight for the first time ever at Swangard Stadium in Vancouver.

The game finished 0-0 after 90 minutes of regular time and had to go into 2 x 15 minutes-overtime. It was starting to look like the penalty shootout was on the schedule as well, until lighting stroke and the Islanders broke the scoreboard open and secured their spot to the Finals in the last few minutes of overtime.

The Islanders got going early in the match as David Foley found an excellent cross from teammate Nicholas Addlery in the middle of the penalty area and, without letting the ball touch the turf, hit a great shot to make it 1-0 for the Islanders 12 minutes in.
