Stade de Gerland, Lyon
3:00 EST (21:00CET, 20:00GMT)
Sunday evening it's back to work. But hopefully, it's not one of those usual Monday morning,
sloping, sluggish, I need a liter of coffee to get through the day, back to works, because aside
from the heart wrenching matches against Cesspool in the CL, Lyon have been afflicted with a
general malaise probably since week eight in the PSG match, and need this victory to put some pep
back in their step.

It was bound to happy eventually. I don't know about you guys, but after the embarrassment of
last season's finish, I was dreading the oncoming ~dramah~, :tearz:, and angsty soap operas from
the players and the staff. I was expecting a meltdown of epic proportions. I thought that the sky
would fall.

Tired of hearing about Michael Jackson? We will bring some more. The King Pop was not known for
his connections to football despite cheesy goal celebrations by Brazilian players.
But look at the picture below. It is Michael Jackson wearing the jersey of French side Nice.
Anyone knows why?

Three Possible New-Comers to Gerland This Season.
I'm planning to do one of these at the end of every week to sum-up the concrete, as well as all
the crap rumors out there concerning Lyon. So here we go:
Possible Ins:
Lisandro Lopez: Negotiations for the Argentine International are still
on-going, much to most of our relief, after the Aly Cissokho debacle.

Colombian coach Eduardo Lara confirmed today that his national team will change scheme when they
step onto the pitch in Puerto Ordaz against a Venezuelan side that is licking their wounds after
returning from Buenos Aires whipped and humiliated. That still does not avoid the fact that for

I plan to post a much longer entry tomorrow about Lyon's winter transfer season (or lack
thereof), but for now, here are some other things that I wanted to mention that don't deserve their
own post.
First off, it's INTERNATIONAL TIME!!! That's good news and bad.

On Saturday Juninho showed why he is the master of the freekick after bringing Lyon single-handedly
back into this one, with a clinical display of scoring from the deadball situation. While
waiting for Inter - Catania to start I decided to turn the dial to TV5
and have a look-see of French Ligue One with Lyon vs.

Sorry that this match preview is so late, but I've been on vacation for the last two weeks, and
John, who has kindly been covering in my absence, is traveling as well. So this is going to be a
little shorter than normal.
This is the fifth game of the season, and Lyon and Marseille are still tied for first place,
with Marseille ahead due to more goals scored.

This morning, Lyon finally clinched the signature of Miralem Pjanic, who is the
hottest talent in France not born in 1987. Lyon have been negotiating with Metz for weeks, but to
so many clubs interested, many with late bids, the deal took quite a long time in being
crafted.
