Big Story
UEFA yesterday revealed more information about investigations into over 200 individuals
alleged to have fixed matches in nine different countries with a press conference. This revealed
that the vast majority under suspicion are domestic matches, with the German authorities having
requested information from UEFA's Betting Fraud Detection System in a number of cases, making 17

heart attack yesterday. He was 31. He had played in Turkey and Greece in recent years (his last
club was Larissa). Sixteen caps for the Mexican national team. More later. Wow. RIP.

Suchao Nutnum, the TOT defender, had shots fired at him in the early hours of Friday morning, news
report here, but I understand he made training and gave no indication of anything untoward
happening.
Can you imagine if it had been an English player? He would be on the phone to his pet journo, he'd
have sympathetic photos of him and his suitably concerned looking WAG staring puppy like out of the
tabloid before checking themselves in counselling, booking a couple of TV shows then writing a book
about it.

US Soccer has been a little slow to update news-starved fans on whereabouts of the USWNT. And
almost as if Abby Wambach knew a few tweeters were loudly voicing their complaints (in 140
characters or less), on Oct 20th she updated her twitter: leaving for germany tonight. i will

There's ridiculous, and then there is this.
A self-proclaimed 'witch' is enjoying his 15 minutes of fame after making the bold claim that he
had placed a 'hex' on Cristiano Ronaldo at the request of a jaded ex-lover. Pepe (that's the witch,
not the ex-lover) is positively gloating after watching Ronaldo injure his ankle during the
international break and is predicting that CR will be forced to stop playing football in four
months.

One news report out of Vietnam is reporting that both Vietnam and Indonesia will co host the 2010
AFF Cup next December with the qualifying rounds taking place in Laos a couple of months
earlier.
No confirmation of this yet on the AFF website.
Bit of a surprise that Indonesia was chosen again after they shared the 2008 competition with
Thailand, I was thinking perhaps next time round Malaysia would have been involved, but at least
the Indonesians get bums on seats.

Where were you on April 15th 1989? I was at Clarence Park in St Albans, for a Vauxhall-Opel
League Premier Division match between St Albans City and Barking. It was a beautiful spring day,
but there was little excitement in the air. City were just safe from relegation, whilst Barking
were mid-table.
