History: 2004-2005 Season Review

LFC News | Liverpool Football Club News 07 November @ 08:29 AM EST
What could one possibly say about the 2004-2005 season in a few paragraphs that would really serve its true value? I'll give it a go. Soccer Tickets Online 07 November @ 07:00 AM EST

They say that girls can be a lot crueler then boys and it's no lie if you saw the highlights on ESPN of the college women's soccer match between New Mexico and BYU yesterday. Defender Elizabeth Lambert of New Mexico seemed to be playing the wrong sport as she tackled, punched, kicked, slapped, elbowed, and hair pulled opposing players throughout the match.

LFC News | Liverpool Football Club News 06 November @ 11:45 AM EST
Ryan Babel's speculative, yet spectacular drive from 30 yards into the top corner on 83 minutes looked to have won the match in France on Matchday 4. All sorts of things were going through my head. "Maybe we can sneak through this group after all," or "FINALLY! We're back on track! We can do it," [.. Click to continue reading...

Kroenke business

East Lower 06 November @ 03:39 AM EST

I'm not quite sure where this week has gone. It's absolutely motored past. However, I suspect I drifted along, basking a bit too much in derby delight, and before I could whistle, the Champions League game had been and gone, and Stan Kroenke had hoovered up yet more shares.

We continued our fine form, albeit against what turned out to be the limited AZ.

Inthestands.co.uk - Football Banter For the Masses - Football Blog 05 November @ 10:43 PM EST

A follow up to last weeks advert from a few years later, the Honey Monster now finds himself a reserve goalkeeper for Manchester United in a European fixture...

I'm pretty sure Peter Schmeichel should have been sent off for the foul, instead good ol' Honey Monster gets subbed on and pulls off a blinder of a save Rene Higuita-esque.

The highlight of this weekend's fixtures was the match at the Olimpico in Turin between Juventus and Napoli. After numerous quality acquisitions over the Summer for Napoli, they had been expecting a good start to the season. However, after a less than impressive start, Roberto Donadoni was sacked and Walter Mazzarri brought in to try and settle the ship.

Rangers fans got gassed

Dirty Tackle 04 November @ 07:18 PM EST

Wednesday's Champions League match between Rangers and Unirea Urziceni ended with a 1-1 draw after two late goals in Bucharest, but the real action was in the stands, where Rangers fans clashed with CS gas wielding stewards. Says Rangers chief executive Martin Bain on the club's official website:

"However, what was equally unacceptable was the fact that Rangers came to this stadium with representatives from UEFA and Unirea a number of weeks ago and arranged for the four turnstiles to be open to give access to our supporters.
