Tottenham fans would have tuned in to last weekend's London derby at Upton Park in the hope of
witnessing two things –
- A defeat for the home side
- A solid performance from Harry Kane
Sadly we got neither with Harry starting the game on the subs' bench along with Ryan Mason but
both players got a full 90 minutes under their belt as Millwall saw off the challenge of
Southampton in last night's FA Cup replay.
Fabio Capello has stunned English football by quitting as England manager having fallen out with
the FA after defender John Terry was stripped of the captaincy. The news rocked football
journalists across the land as head coach Fabio Capello turned his back on the English national
team and resigned with immediate effect.
The cat who invaded the pitch during Liverpool and Tottenham's 0-0 draw has become an overnight
internet sensation apparently Its name is Tabby, seemingly homeless, loves football, does not
suffer from stage fright and could do with a warm, hot dinner as well as a place to stay on
Merseyside. So what exactly was the [.
I wrote yesterday that Fabio Capello And FA were set for a fireworks meeting today with neither
site apparently ready to concede ground over John Terry.
Well after meeting today, it became apparent that the two sides could no longer work together
and the FA has announced that Fabio Capello has stepped down as England manager.
Today's announcement at Southwark Crown Court means that Spurs manager Harry Redknapp is free to
resume full duties at White Hart Lane. We are therefore unlikely to see a repeat of Monday's game
at Liverpool where Harry was absent due to transport problems and it's likely that all the players
will be happy to see his familiar face in the dugout.
Internet's been down in the FootyBlog mansions recently, so we were unable to share the story of
the Anfield cat...
Apparently its a homeless cat named Kenny who is often spotted around the ground, but this was
the first time it made an appearance on the pitch at Anfield. A spoof Twitter was set up after the
game, reaching 25,000 followers the next day (is currently above 40,000!
Personally I'm quite pleased to hear both Redknapp and Mandaric have been cleared of tax
evasion, it can't have been a great few months for either of the guys. Anyway, I think Redknapp
would do a good job as future manager of England, and I don't think the FA would have touched him
had he been prosecuted or given a criminal record.
While it wasn't exactly backs to the wall for 90 minutes as some media reports are suggesting,
Tottenham had to show a great deal of resilience to come away with a draw from yesterday's
encounter at Anfield.
After the game, Assistant Manager Kevin Bond hailed a ‘different type of performance' as Spurs
took a valuable point from the match.
You could be looking at the Annual Congregation of Munich's Santa Clauses,
except this photo would've been only complete if Mario Gomez joined the bench
instead of looking down at them! During Bayern's 1-1 draw against Hamburg over the weekend, there
was a lot of frustration and anger from all corners of the club.
Luis Suarez is back in business, whether any of you
futbolitinos like it or not! Over the weekend, we spoke to a few
Uruguayans about the striker's return to the Premier League and they all shared a
similar nonchalant and supportive approach for the Liverpool man.
Big blow for AC Milan's title hopes as striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been suspended for three
matches for his red card against Napoli, meaning he will miss the top-of-the-table clash with Serie
A leaders Juventus.
Ibra was sent off midway through the second half of Sunday's 0-0 draw with Napoli at the San
Siro after he slapped opponent Salvatore Aronica in an off-the-ball incident.
For much of this season, Spurs number one Brad Friedel has quietly gone about his business and
at times, solid performances across the back four have provided him with little to do. When called
upon, the American is an uncomplicated keeper who has brought calm between the posts where once
there was chaos.
A charity donation website has raised more than £1000 in memory of former chairman and club owner
Nigel Doughty since it was started this morning [...]
Keep calm and carry on isn't just a greetings card company, it's a quintessential English saying
that Oxlade-Chamberlain adheres too.... In an interview with Sky Sports, The former Southampton
Academy graduate stated that, "I have to keep my feet on the ground and keep working hard." An
attitude most 18 year olds may push aside [.
manera regular.
Lifelong City fan Celia Hodkin has been given an almighty birthday present from the folks in the

Looks like Mr. Backe has some decisions to make come opening day in Dallas. With a surplus of
forwards and central midfielders, it'll be interesting to see what formation and personnel makeup
the starting XI. With so many options and possible configurations at his disposal, how will Backe
manage his depth?

Spurs assistant manager Kevin Bond revealed that Aaron Lennon and Jermain Defoe remain as major
doubts for Monday night's clash with Liverpool. Both players have been struggling with hamstring
injuries and while the timing of the game gives them an extra chance to recover, it looks as if
both will miss out.
Whatever your view of Spurs' deadline day transfer dealings, don't expect Kevin Bond to be
reading any comments after the late captures of Louis Saha and Ryan Nelsen.
Bond did however attempt to ease any disquiet by suggesting that we should all trust Harry and
the players he has brought in.
I bet Bob Bradley had not anticipated this when he took over as coach of the Pharaohs last year.
Needless to say, it is very sad what happened in Egypt earlier this week.
A league match pitting rivals Al-Masry and Al-Ahly at Port Said turned tragic when 73 fans were
killed when violence broke out after Al-Masry 3-1 win.
Sack Vanderlei Luxemburgo or part ways with Ronaldinho? That was the choice Flamengo president
Patricia Amorim had to make yesterday as she picked the star player over the 59 year old
tactician.
It is not quite certain why Luxemburgo was sacked, however, many believe that his icy
relationship with Ronaldinho was a major factor that led to his dismissal.
From what I've read from Mirrorfootball's 'exclusive' is that an Arsenal fan group are planning to
put bin-liners on all empty seats in the ground, in the next home match vs Blackburn, to highlight
dwindling attendances... One problem with that chaps Arsenal play to a full house practically every
game.
One of the perks of being a professional futbolito is obviously getting new cars sent to
your doorstep every season (listen up, AC Milan fans!) While the European elite get to drive their
shiny new Audis, Atletico Madrid's players received keys to our
favourite car of all time instead a Volkswagen Beetle!
We thought it'd be appropriate to spend a few minutes of today to send our thoughts and prayers
out to the families of Egypt's football tragedy last night. Contrary to popular
beliefs, we all know that football shouldn't be a matter of life and death. Lives can't be taken
away out of one's anger at the scoreline of a match.
74 killed and over hundreds were injured when politics mixed with football in violent fashion last
night in Port Said... I'm not quite sure what to say about this as it's one of the most insane
things I've ever seen, so below is what the Daily Mail wrote about the incident. After Al-Masry
beat Al-Ahly, [.
After a full week of news both on and off the pitch, Tottenham centre half Younes Kaboul
identified the 3-1 win over Wigan as a return to form after some indifferent results of late.
Younes played a full part in the win and was unlucky not to open the scoring on two occasions
before Gareth Bale and Luka Modric sealed the win.
The protracted transfer of Blackburn Rovers defender Ryan Nelsen has now been officially
confirmed by the club after his previous employers rubber stamped the termination of his
contract.
While the club were announcing the deal on the official website, Spurs assistant Kevin Bond
revealed that Nelsen was fit and available for Monday night's game at Liverpool.
Tottenham's youngsters continued a good week of results at the club with a 1-0 win over
Liverpool to take them into to the semi finals of the NextGen series. The winner came in the second
half, courtesy of Shaq Coulthirst but Spurs had to withstand heavy pressure from the visitors
throughout.
Amidst all the loan deals away from White Hart Lane yesterday there was one permanent departure
and it came in the shape of Russian striker Roman Pavlyuchenko who has departed for Lokomotiv
Moscow for a fee in the region of £7.5m.
It had been an unhappy eighteen months at the Lane for Pav, punctuated by occasional match
winning strikes against the likes of Birmingham last season and against Sunderland a few weeks ago,
where his solitary goal could yet prove vital in the course of the season.
Queens Park Rangers have completed the signing of French striker Djibril Cisse whose crazy
hairstyles are set to liven up the Premier League once again. It is fair to say that Djibril Cisse
does not do ordinary. He plays with a lightening pace (albeit with a lack of elegance and control),
he celebrates wildly, has [.
Arsenal have been hit with a huge blow after midfielder Jack Wilshere was ruled out for the entire
season after yet another injury setback The news also means that Wilshere is a major doubt for Euro
2012 which kicks-off in June with England boss Fabio Capello adamant that he will only be selecting
players who [.

While the emerging transfer stories dominate the headlines there was the small matter of a 3-1
win over a poor Wigan side last night. No prizes for guessing the man of the match although Luka
Modric would have run two goal Gareth Bale close with some intricate passing and a stunning goal of
his own.

Did anyone really expect Wenger to burn holes in Arsenal's chequebook this month? The general
climate in football hinted at no, the fact that Arsene is our boss said no, and the apparent need
for backup up front or at the back said – haha – no. No no no.
Editor's note: Today, the staff here at PUT woke from a 3 month whiskey and BIMBO brand mini
Kaiser roll-induced haze to the realization that face-of-the-franchise, leading scorer and all
around exception to French stereotypes Sebastien Le Toux was gone. His side of the closet was
empty, his neon boots no longer by the door.
Today, everything changed. The Union traded Le Toux to the Vancouver Whitecaps, where he'll play
alongside Eric Hassli. Eric FUCKING Hassli. Though also French, Hassli earned three red cards in
his debut MLS season. Remember when Woody and Buzz ended up in Sid's hands?
Quite an entertaining story circulating from Sky Sports today stating that the Liverpool
chairman Tom Werner has denied that winger Stewart Downing was signed from Aston Villa based on a
fake YouTube video in which Downing is shown kicking balls into 5 different wheelie bins.
The video is so fake its quite unbelievable, so its surprising to even hear the Liverpool
chairman commenting on the matter.
