Of course, just when you think that Mike Ashley's unpopularity with the Newcastle United fanbase
has bottomed out and just couldn't get any lower, it usually does. However the only man who has
offered him any kind of lifeline is Chris Hughton, who has resolutely chosen to ignore wherever
possible almost everything at Newcastle that [.

Newcastle United manager, Chris Hughton, has been talking about bringing players into the club,
either on loan or permanently. His main emphasis seems to be on promotion first, leaving the
onerous task of building a squad that is fit for another long spell in the Premiership and beyond
until that objective has been achieved.

On recent evidence, probably not. If you came thinking this was going to be another intense post

same amount of appeal as say, previewing, I don't know a match against Newcastle. Whoops. Cross

In the wake of Ireland's heartbreaking aggregate defeat to France, where Thierry Henry's
handballed assist for William Gallas to score an equaliser in extra time denied a team who had
performed magnificently to haul themselves level, we pay tribute to five of the greatest
footballing heartbreakers in recent memory.

When Barry Moat's Newcastle United takeover bid failed, a lot of supporters feared that without
money to invest in players, we'd struggle to add to our already depleted squad. The current
Newcastle squad is probably just good enough to get out of the Championship, but without
further investment, it's looking bleak for our future Premier League survival.
