Where Did the Recent Thierry Henry to MLS Rumours Come From? Nowhere, That’s Where.

The Offside 20 October @ 05:30 AM EST
Have you heard the story linking Thierry Henry with a move to Major League Soccer and the New York Red Bulls? I know it's been around for a while now, ever since the Designated Player/Beckham Rule came into effect, but for some reason it kicked up again this past weekend. All of a sudden the rumour [. Real Salt Lake vs. New York Red Bull Highlights

Jared Montz’s Weblog 15 October @ 10:50 AM EST

Didn't see this one because of the USMNT game last night but from the highlights it looked like RSL owned this game. Great goals!

Beckham is Back! Galaxy vs Red Bull Highlights

Jared Montz’s Weblog 17 July @ 07:41 AM EST

WOW! Some absolute stunners in this clip! That is the good thing about playing on bad turf, sometimes the ball bounces really nice for you. Great strikes!

I'm excited to see Beckham back in the MLS! He is a great player and bet you the Galaxy will really start turning things up a notch.

Zip It: New York vs FC Dallas

3rd Degree 05 July @ 01:10 AM EST
The good news is FC Dallas dispatched the New York Red Bulls 2-1 on a balmy July 4th evening at Pizza Hut Park in Frisco, Texas in front of 14,327 onlookers. The bad news is it should have never been that close. Click to continue reading...

Galaxy Guaranteed Contract Day Moves

The Offside - LA Galaxy 02 July @ 12:17 AM EST

As has been widely reported in the futbol blogosphere, the Galaxy made a trade today with Chivas USA, sending a conditional 2010 draft pick and allocation money down the hall in return for striker Alecko Eskandarian. To make space on the roster, the team cut holding midfielder Josh Tudela on the day his 2009 contract was to be guaranteed.

Vein of Form's MLS Preview Extravaganza!

Vein of Form 19 March @ 08:57 PM EST
Inspired by the Seattle crowd in attendance tonight for the MLS season opener I just had to write an MLS preview and share some thoughts on the league.  My thoughts are this league still has a long way to go.  divbr //divdivWould you dare disagree?  They are opening the season on the same night the NCAA college basketball tournament starts. 2009 Has Begun1

Black Panther 19 March @ 08:38 PM EST
And finally the 2009 MLS season has kicked off. I've been anxious for the season to start. Not only to see Gary Smith show good of a coach he but also to watch some of the commentators back peddle on their predictions about Seattle making the playoffs. It's great to see a team their but this is 1998. Click to continue reading...

Rapids Waive Petke

Black Panther 26 November @ 08:20 PM EST
Major league Soccer held their waiver draft today. The waiver draft process is as sexy as a pair of Rosanne Bahrs soiled undies. It's understandable tha tthe league's marketers didn't put effort into promoting the event.

Unfortunately for Rpaids fans Mike Petke was placed on waivers and taken by the New York Red Bulls.

MLS Playoffs: And Then There Were Four

The Offside 10 November @ 02:30 PM EST
I seriously need to start betting. In my preview, I picked all four of the MLS Cup semifinalists (technically the Conference semifinal winners), even the big RBNY over Houston upset. Or maybe it wasn't dumb luck. Maybe I caused all of this. I actually think that, say, the Houston Dynamo read [.. Click to continue reading...

Looking up the table

The Offside - Kansas City Wizards 10 July @ 11:24 PM EST

Another win. And two goals scored? How about that. This was the first league match that KC scored two goals in since April 5. That is not good. Plain and simple. The fact the Jimmy Conrad now leads the Wizards in goals? Also not encouraging. But the three points tonight means that KC is now equal on points with New York for sixth place.

Red Bulls New York Preview

The Offside - Kansas City Wizards 10 July @ 09:21 AM EST

Three points are there for the taking tonight. Not that New York is a team of pushovers, but they are reeling right now. The game at the CAB is an opportunity to pull ourselves out of last place - well, at least draw level with NY for sixth place. As Bill Murray's character said in What About Bob, it's all about "baby steps".

Rapids Beat New York.... Can They Do It On The Road?

Black Panther 07 July @ 10:26 PM EST
Like most teams in the MLS, the Colorado Rapids have a single win on the road this year. As Nick over at We Want Rapidman points out, the key to the Rapids doubling that total this weekend at San Jose will be scoring first. Will things for the Rapids start to come together with another win to follow-up their season high 4-0 win over hapless New York. Click to continue reading...

Red Bull New York Did Not Field a Good Soccer Team

The Edgell Supporters 16 June @ 12:56 PM EST
Yes, DC United scored 4 goals.
Yes, Luciano Emili'gol' scored his first career hat trick.
Yes, Fred juggled the ball through the middle of the field.
But, Zachariah Wells did not post a clean sheet and is still not good enough.
Also, New York did not field an adequate team of atheletes that play soccer. Click to continue reading...

New York 1-1 Kansas City

The Offside - Kansas City Wizards 20 May @ 12:05 AM EST

A lot to say after this one. After watching it, I have mixed feelings over the Wizards blowing the shot at three points, having escaped with a draw, or unlucky to have missed out on a win after being a man up - and conceding then as well. All very similar yet still different reactions. It was an exciting game with action end to end.

Quick weekend preview

The Offside - Kansas City Wizards 17 May @ 09:48 AM EST

I've been away and there hasn't much going on - aside of course from what is a huge game for the Wizards in New York. Things haven't been going well at all as of late. Struggles in the offense and midfield have underlined the problems that they've had. The defense has been the lone bright spot, despite conceding four goals in the past two games.

Where'e The Beef?

Black Panther 19 November @ 11:26 PM EST

It seems to be everywhere today; that is people having a beef with the league and the Galaxy after the New York Red Bulls traded Clint Mathis to LA for a 3rd round pick. There has been a lot of complaining by New York fans that they've lost a great player. More grumbling has been about how the league is playing favorites with Los Angeles yet again by letting them get Mathis on the cheap.

An Embarrassing Goal

Black Panther 06 October @ 07:24 PM EST
Yes, yes Toronto FC chalked up another win at home Thursday night. And they're scoring goals again, winning 2-1. Nevertheless, how embarrassing is it that the allowed 5' 7" Dane Richards to score a goal off of a header. It's not just his height but also his slight figure that makes it baffling as to how any professional defense could allow the little guy to get in the air in a position that allowed him to nod home the ball for a goal. MLS 2007 Team Moves : New York Red Bulls

Black Panther 30 July @ 12:08 PM EST
A while ago we looked at the player moves by the Colorado Rapids for 2007. Since then the Rapids traded Kyle Beckerman to Real Salt Lake for Mehdi Ballouchy. To continue looking at teams around the MLS and the moves they've made this year, today we'll look at New York Red Bulls and the moves that Bruce Arena has made in the off-season and during the 2007 MLS season. Tony Sanneh Signs With...

Black Panther 28 July @ 09:07 AM EST
It looks like for the time being ex-USMNT player Tony Sanneh has signed with the Minnesota Thunder (USL-1). Sanneh has been without a team since being released by the Chicago Fire after the 2006 MLS season. Since then he's been linked with a couple MLS teams and spent time training with New York Red Bulls. Recently the Colorado Rapids traded the Chicago Fire a 4th round Superdraft pick for Sanneh's rights. Click to continue reading...
