A dour game? Bring on dour ratings.

D.C. United hoped to snap run of bad luck in New Jersey against a New York Red Bulls side that found themselves in need of an identity or form or whatever, similar to what D.C. did two weeks prior. And like two weeks prior when D.C. beat the Philadelphia Union, the Black-and-Red found themselves on the bad end of a 2-0 result.

Upheaval in New Jersey may add up to some regression for the Red Bulls

The New York Red Bulls, unfortunately, have been good for a few years now. Really good. They've gotten at least 50 points in each of the last five seasons, and in four of those five they topped 55 points. They ran into a problem last season in MVP voting because they had two players splitting ballots.

MLS's oldest rivalry will be rekindled today as United visits a remodeled Red Bulls side in New Jersey.

Any Atlantic Cup matchday is a big one for D.C. United, as there are few things in life that feel better than putting one over on your odious, dastardly, unwashed rival. This one may not have the high stakes of a playoff match or an Open Cup game, but it will be a significant litmus test for both sides.

That appears to be the new home/primary jersey. Here's a close up. Pretty similar to our current jersey. The stripes have moved from the shoulders to the sides, as seems to be the new Adidas standard template.

Seriously, this was the home jersey in 1980. Add a new corporate logo and change the kit sponsor from Adidas to Nike, and there's really not that big of a difference.

Now, there's a distinct possibility that I'm going to do the exact same thing I did with last year's kit (dislike initially, grow to strongly dislike, slowly soften stance, begin to appreciate it, and, ultimately, buy a bootleg design from Turkey).
