Spirit of Shankly, a Liverpool supporter's union, has erected billboard posters in its city to
protest against the American owners of Liverpool FC, Tom Hicks and George Gillett.
The posters, which read "Tom & George: Debt, Lies, Cowboys Not Welcome Here," have appeared on
billboards on major roads into Liverpool.

When we talk of "market forces" in football, it is usually in terms of the inalienable right to
spend as much money as they like and generally behave with complete impunity. Of course, when some
sort of crash happens, those self same clubs are suddenly no longer "just" businesses. When they
don't have two pennies to rub together, the owners suddenly remember that their club is a critical
pillar of its community and that it must not be allowed to go the same way as any other business
that had behaved as recklessly might do.

Molineux, Wolverhampton. Judging by the brightness of the sunshine and the bareness of the
goalmouth, it's springtime. The camera lingers on the main stand as it fills up with a lone
goalkeeper (Mike Stowell, perhaps?) warming up in front of the camera. Finally, a shower of
ticker-tape and the team takes the pitch.

It was one of the longest journeys that any club in this country had to make over the weekend,
but there can be little doubting that supporters of Blue Square North club Workington AFC will be
in no doubt whatsoever that it was worth it. Their trip to South London on Saturday afternoon was
to AFC Wimbledon in the FA Trophy required leaving their Cumbria outpost in the early hours of the
morning, but it ended with a win that was a tiny bit of revenge that they have waited for over
thirty years to deliver, for it was Wimbledon that were voted into the Football League in their
place in 1977.

A major change in approach by hated Liverpool owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett has taken
place.
The duo are willing to sell 50% of the club to interested parties.
Previously, the Yanks wanted only to sell 25% of the club for £100 million.
However, despite extensive hawking of the club in the Middle East, they have not found an investor
willing to invest in Liverpool Football Club on those terms.

Christian Purslow, the managing director of English soccer club Liverpool FC, has revealed that the
banks with which the club hopes to secure financing for a new stadium will only deal with the club
if new investment can be attracted.
Liverpool's owners, Tom Hicks and George Gillett, are keen to sell a stake in the club, in what
Purslow says "could be part ownership or it could be complete ownership".

Liverpool FC, the Premier League soccer club, has confirmed that it will sell the naming rights to
its new stadium, work on which is expected to begin by April.
The stadium, which will be built in Stanley Park, close to the club's current home ground Anfield,
is seen as a key source of revenue by the club's American owners, Tom Hicks and George Gillett, and
the club's commercial director Ian Ayre says Liverpool would be "crazy" not to sell naming rights
to the new ground.

What a good samaritan Juan Sebastion Veron is. It is alleged that the ex-Man Utd, Chelsea and

been forced to reassess his snub because the fee involved is so high it would pay for a new stadium
for his current club Estudiantes.

Is there a worse chairman in the history of the Premiership than Sulaiman Al-Fahim? I'm

Christmas should be a time when you leave your worries behind and enjoy the festivities but, for
Liverpool supporters, that is likely to prove impossible.

work for Radio City, rarely does a day pass by without me having a conversation with a fan about
the state of our nation.

What did you make of the Kop-style stand? To be honest, I was fairly annoyed with it at first, but
it's definitely begun to grow on me.
I'm no architect, so I can't really comment on the acoustics that the new ground will create, but
it looks as though KSS (the projects architects) and Levy are pretty adamant that the noise
circulating around the stadium will be ferocious.
