Wenger – Arsenal had to beat their nerves as well as Newcastle

Just Arsenal at related • 0 views

Arsenal fans should be used to having our hearts in our mouths towards the end of just about every game since Christmas, but with so much at stake yesterday's game at Newcastle was even nervier than most. Laurent Koscielny's goal calmed us all a little, but we still had to suffer right to the end of the 90 minutes.

Is resilience really enough for Arsenal?

Just Arsenal at related • 1 view

About the only good thing that can be said about Arsenal after the game against Fulham, apart from the three points, was that we defended well again and showed once again that this Gunners side has much more resilience than previous incarnations. Both Arsene Wenger and Aaron Ramsey have praised this fighting quality, but will it be enough to see us over the line and into next season's Champions League.

A (perhaps pointless) review of a select few United players this season

Because we just haven't got time to do everyone. With added, pointless star ratings.Â

David de Gea

United fans' staunch defence of the maligned Spaniard mid-season was admirable (well most of them did, anyway), as they felt they had to; partly, because they'd seen flashes of a £20million player and partly because they didn't want another Roy Carroll, another Raimond van der Gouw.

It was the 92nd minute of the game when Arsene Wenger, as fraught with nerves as I've ever seen him, clung to Pat Rice as a Robin van Persie chance went begging.

I think we all knew how he felt. I'd have tried to cuddle Pat too if I were there.

Tottenham Hotspur's spring tour of the lower regions of the Premier League finished in the Midlands on a frustrating note as we hammered away at Villa's massed ranks for 90 minutes without scoring from open play. Going down to ten men early in the second made only a momentary difference to the pattern of a game where we had all the ball, plenty of shots, countless corners but were unable to find that single moment of finesse to create a golden chance.

Firstly, this shows a total misunderstanding of the Raddy psyche, but more to the point, it indicates a lack of understanding of the nature of importance.

After back-to-back defeats against Blackburn and Newcastle to end 2011 and open 2012, there were many who doubted that Manchester United would be able to successfully defend their Premier League crown. At that time, though only three points separated United and City at the top, many United supporters would've been content with a three-point lead going into the pivotal late-season derby at the Etihad Stadium.

Young believes that at the moment City players are feeling the fear of completely losing track of the league title, especially as Roberto Mancini's team kept on struggling while Sir Alex Ferguson's side can't seem to stop winning.
