The Nehru Cup (International Football Tournament) is a tournament organized by the All India
Football Federation. It was launched in 1982, but was not held between 1998 and 2007. After the
trophy was won by the Iraq in 1997, it was reinstated only in 2007.
India -whose current FIFA ranking is 156 beat Syria who are ranked 95.

NEW DELHI (Reuters) - India have thrown Thailand out of this month's six-nation Nehru Cup
tournament in New Delhi for planning to send a junior side despite initially promising to send the
national team.
"They confirmed entry but when we checked the players' list we found it was an under-19 side,"
Indian football federation secretary Alberto Colaco told a news conference.

With the cancellation of the Inter Continental Cup in Malaysia over swine flu concerns the FA here
has revealed they are considerin three alternative destinations for the Under 23s as they prepare
for the SEA Games in December.
In July they have been invited to the Capital Cup in Vietnam. India have also invited them to
compete in the Nehru Cup while Sri Lanka have also expressed an interest.
