Real Salt Lake are looking to the future just as much as they are hoping to win an MLS Cup title
in 2012.
Real Salt Lake announced four moves on Thursday, including the re-signings of Fabian Espindola
and Ned Grabavoy.

GOLDEN GOOSE EGGS! My Minnesota Stars won the NASL Championship on Saturday night down in Fort
Lauderdale by tying the Strikers 0-0 after winning the 1st Leg at home 3-1! Oh what a glorious
rainy night in South Florida for the Dark Clouds and all Minnesota players, staff, fans, families
and friends!
Happy Halloween MLS fans. The past weekend saw the first round of the playoffs provide a number of
story lines. After the Wild Card match-ups we were left with an impressive slate of matches and
drama delivered. Goals were scored in each match and a few surprises came through in the form of
shoving, ball throwing antics.
Salt Lake 3 - Seattle 0 Real Salt Lake came up with a huge home result, beating the higher seeded
Sounders by three goals at Rio Tinto Stadium in the opening leg of their Western Conference
semifinal two-game series. Alvaro Saborio was the hero for RSL, scoring in the 41st and 53rd
minutes. Javier Morales assisted on both goals, with Ned Grabavoy scoring the third in the 88th
minute.
Real Salt Lake stunned the Seattle Sounders 3-0 in the first leg of the MLS Cup Playoffs.
Real Salt Lake immediately took control of the match, keeping Sounders goalkeeper Kasey Keller
occupied in the early moments of the game. Keller was able to keep Real Salt Lake at bay for a
majority of the first half, but forward Alvaro Saborío eventually broke through in the 41st
minute, tapping a pass into Seattle's post.
It really doesn't get much worse than that folks. And, yet, as Seattle Sounders coach Sigi
Schmid said in postgame comments, they were lucky they didn't lost 6-0. The Sounders were outplayed
every bit as bad as their 3-0 scoreline suggests, and probably even worse than that.
Just going through the stats, there are signs of Real Salt Lake domination everywhere.

Much was made of Real Salt Lake's regular season-ending six-match winless streak and how it
might be a sign that RSL is in trouble heading into the playoffs.
On Saturday night, Real Salt Lake put that notion to rest in emphatic fashion.
Quite possibly the worst performance that the Seattle Sounders ever occurred in the chilly, high
air of Utah as Real Salt Lake netted three goals. Only Kasey Keller prevented that scoreline from
being even greater. To list all of the mistakes that were made will take some time, but sadly it
will happen.
Seattle's 2-1 win over the New England Revolution earlier today means the Galaxy can't clinch
the Supporters Shield tonight, but a win or a draw would eliminate Real Salt Lake from contention
for the regular season title.
The Galaxy need five more points from their four remaining games, including this evening's
contest, and the title will belong to them no matter what any other team does.
Denz of RSL SoapBox, SB Nation's Real Salt Lake blog, and I exchanged
three questions a piece ahead of tonight's Union-RSL match at Rio Tinto. Read my responses to
Denz's questions by clicking on the linked text here.
tBG: What has sent RSL into such a freefall (though that may be hyperbole)?

Kansas City continues another busy week tomorrow when they'll take on Real Salt Lake in another
home game at LIVESTRONG Sporting Park. The game is between weekend games against New England and
Seattle. Real Salt Lake comes into town on the back of a disappointing 2-0 loss at home to
Columbus, giving up two early goals, a disease that KC has suffered from as well.
Real Salt Lake and New England engaged in an absurd match featuring referee howlers, two red cards,
two penalties, six goals and ultimately, a draw. Instead of an analysis of the multitude of
formations and tactics each coach used due to the circumstances, this breakdown focuses on the
trends each manager used.
Jason Kreis had a message for Steve Nicol
One of the many criticisms of soccer is that it is boring and there is no scoring. No one said that
about the match between the New England Revolution and Real Salt Lake. This game had it all. Fans
were treated to red cards, goals, referee mistakes, crossbars and player scuffles.
After losing to Monterrey at home in the final leg of the CONCACAF Champion's League Final on
April 27 Real Salt Lake has not looked like the same team that was considered to be the class of
MLS by many observers at the beginning of the season, myself included. A bit of a let down could be
expected after the loss to Monterrey and it did come in the form of a 1-0 loss to the Portland
Timbers on the road.
There were a lot of things working against the Seattle Sounders on Saturday. Before the match
even started, there was Real Salt Lake's roughly 350-minute shutout streak and their 29-match home
unbeaten run. Shortly after starting, the Sounders lost Alvaro Fernandez to a muscle strain. The
weather, once again, turned bad.
Real Salt Lake take on Monterrey tonight for a chance at winning the CONCACAF Champions Cup. If
you are on Twitter and a fan of any American soccer, you will likely see the hashtag #MLS4RSL. One
of our authors posted a story and used that hashtag even. I wasn't happy. I don't understand why
anyone but Real Salt Lake fans want to see RSL win.

For the second time in four days, the New England Revolution wound up in a three-red-card match.
Unfortunately for the Revs, this week they were unable to salvage a result, falling to a largely
reserve Real Salt Lake squad at Gillette Stadium Saturday night.
FOXBOROUGH, Mass -- The New England Revolution fell 2-0 to a Real Salt Lake side that rested
nine starters in a match again characterized by controversial refereeing. Jasen Anno issued three
red cards - two to the Revs - and showed a general inconsistency in his officiating. After tonight,
the last two matches New England has been involved in have featured six ejections.
