Houston and Galaxy to Settle the Western Conference on Friday

Soccer Tickets Online 12 November @ 08:46 AM EST

Houston travels to L.A. on Friday to take on the Galaxy for the Western Conference crown. This is the matchup of all matchups. The two best teams in the West (which makes it all the more funny that RSL is in the East and yet the city is farther west than Houston, but who's counting really?

Fan Diary #15: Fearless Liverpool (As In: They Aren’t Scary)

EPL Talk 11 November @ 02:47 PM EST

During the halftime show during the Liverpool/Birmingham match, Danny Murphy basically said Liverpool weren't scaring their opponents these days. Unfortunately, he's too right.

Against Birmingham City, Liverpool enjoyed more possession than an NBA forward playing one-on-one with a five-year-old (sorry, I'm reading an enormous book on basketball right now and it's filtering into my football psyche).

That's On Point 06 November @ 10:03 AM EST
We could probably spend a day listing all the difference between our traditional North American sports leagues (MLB, NFL and NBA) with the way European soccer clubs are run, or in fact almost all leagues around the world are run, aside from MLS. For me, one of the key differences is roster construction. Click to continue reading...

He already owned 29.9% shares

Arsenal Brunei Blog 05 November @ 08:30 PM EST
Stan Kroenke owns the NBA's Denver Nuggets and Colorado Rapids MLS team.
The latest 200 shares that he bought; 100 shares from Arsenal Chairman, Peter Hill-Wood, for 8,500 Pounds per share put him on a brink of the threshold mark set up by the Arsenal Board of Directors.

Now this is a logo

Only Time Will Tell 28 October @ 02:09 PM EST
The NFL has their iconic logo, the NBA has Jerry West, but its easy to see why the top soccer league in Belgium has the best logo in the world. The Jupiler League logo (above) features a beer can playing the trumpet, can it get any better than that. Can you imagine the NFL logo featuring a Budweiser can playing an electric guitar, now that would be priceless. Click to continue reading...

Hello, Sunshine

kenn.com 19 October @ 11:55 AM EST

I just thought the sun coming through the beams at Sky Harbor this morning looked cool. Don't think this photo does it justice, but, whatever.

So, I just flew in from Indianapolis, and boy are my arms tired. Got to see some old friends and called Michigan State's 1-0, double-overtime victory over Indiana on the Big Ten Network Sunday afternoon.

Quarter 1 Report Card: New Club Managers

Premiership Talk Blog 05 October @ 12:09 PM EST

With the first quarter of football almost over in most leagues around Europe, now is a good time to measure the current progress of some of the giant clubs on the continent. Actually, analyzing the success or failure of clubs in general won't be nearly as exciting as identifying a more specific object of analysis.

MLS succeeding in this economy?

Sounder at Heart - Soccer From the Heart of the Sound 01 October @ 11:35 AM EST
Sure, the attendance numbers for MLS aren't that strong, down about 700 per game. But it is still the 4th best season for the league by any attendance measure. No it doesn't compare strongly to the NBA (slightly up) or NHL (also slightly up), but does to MLB (down 6%) and NFL (in danger of [...] Click to continue reading...

Manchester Derby Decided by Officials?

English Premier league 21 September @ 07:08 PM EST

The rumblings are starting. The city of Manchester is all aflitter about the dramatic ending of the derby between Man City and Man Utd. With in-town rivalries like this someone is bound to cry foul no matter the score, and it appears this weekend's derby is no exception.

Officials take alot of heat during games when there are sensitive calls, but these seem odd and troubling.

The Laws of Soccer 101: The Technical Area

In our second to last installment of "The Laws of Soccer 101″ before our Final Exam, I wanted to address the second appendix-like rule tacked into the rulebook that is not actually characterized as a "Law". En sus declaraciones, además de dejar una perla como "yo en estos tiempos no tendría precio", sinceramente, no soy quién para dudarlo, nos habló del excesivo precio pagado por el Real Madrid por sus nuevas incorporaciones y de los sueldos que llevan a los jugadores a cambiarse de club únicamente importándoles las condiciones económicas.
