Real Madrid will go into the Spanish winter break with a three-point advantage over Barcelona

With Barça away in Japan playing in the FIFA Club World Cup duty, José Mourinho's side took
full advantage and went in front through Cristiano Ronaldo. José Callejón doubled the lead on 37

Well this is going to piss off some Dynamo fans. Just days after protecting Bobby Boswell in the
expansion draft, the Dynamo declined his 2012 contract option. They could of course be hoping to
re-sign Boswell at a lower wage, but I doubt this is going to sit well with fans after the loss of
Brian Ching, who was left exposed in the expansion draft.
The second step in the MLS offseason also occurred today as MLS teams waived players to make
room on their rosters. Not surprisingly Portland did not waive a single player but quite a few
other teams did waive players. Including Vancouver, who waived 3 players and Toronto, who waived 7
players.
All of the waived players are now free to sign with any club in any country they wish.
Today also marked the start of the waiver period in MLS. This kind of thing probably will
continue to get flushed out a little more over time now that the league has the Re-Entry drafts
that will be coming up in the next couple of weeks. For the most part any of these players below
just weren't good enough or were too pricy to be apart of that Re-Entry Draft.
The clock has struck midnight on Levante's cinderella start to the season as the former leaders
suffered their third consecutive defeat in a row, this time at the hands of Atlético Madrid.
All five goals came within a rollercoaster final 25 minutes as Atlético won 3-2. Xavi Torres
equalised for the visitors shortly after Pizzi had put the hosts ahead, but Adrián López's fourth
goal of the season and Diego's 83rd-minute effort ensured Atlético moved up to ninth.

Thursday night sees a top of the table clash in Group A of the Europa League. Visitors Rubin
Kazan like Spurs have taken four points from their opening two games of the Group stages and are
sure to provide the Lilywhites toughest test yet in the competition.
orden.
Chelsea's David Luiz
Brazil face Costa Rica in an international friendly in San Jose this evening. Mano Menezes is
expected to pair David Luiz and Thiago Silva in the centre of defence with Manchester United's
Fábio on the right and Barcelona's Adriano on the left flank. Neymar and Fred will lead the line
with Lucas Moura and Ronaldinho in support.
Here are the final numbers from the Players Union for base salaries and guaranteed compensation.
I don't know about you, but there sure seems to be some wasted money on this list. For example, the
Dynamo are paying Carlo Costly nearly a half million in reported pay (there could be more
allocation money involved) and all we've gotten is a red card.
Costa Rica spoiled Jurgen Klinsmann's second game in charge of the United States National Team and
his first in his adopted home area of Southern California on Friday night, beating the US in front
of 15,798 at The Home Depot Center. Portland Timbers defender Rodney Wallace scored the game's only
goal in the 65th minute after subbing in four minutes earlier.

Charlotte, NC- Late heroics and an offensive clinic were on display at Bank of America Stadium
as Costa Rica and El Salvador tied 1-1 and Mexico thrashed Cuba 5-0 in the second round of matches
in Group A.
Kickoff was delayed for 36 minutes due to lightning in the Charlotte area.
The Swope Park Rangers opened the 2011 reserve league season today down in Houston when they took
on the Dynamo. The team has said this season that they like the depth that they have with this
team, but all the injuries have piled up, as Sporting KC had to start two Juniors players (Nate
Opperman and Wes White both from the U16s) up top due to injuries that have forced some reserves
into starting roles.

Now that we've hashed and rehashed our thoughts on the Dynamo Forwards, it's time to delve into
the vast quantity (and quality) that is the Orange Midfield. I know I said I was considering
splitting the Midfield into two groups, Wingers and Mids, but it is just far easier to do them
altogether. More after the jump.
The reigning World Champions SPAIN won 1 - 0 COLOMBIA in tonights Friendly International match
played at the "Santiago Bernabeu Stadium" (Madrid). A very difficult game with a very serious &
physical Colombian side that had their chances but missed plenty of opportunities. They gave the
Spanish Football Team a good knock around & it was only some individual magic from Navas & Silva
that saved the
A goal from David Silva four minutes from time was enough for the world and European champions
to claim victory in Madrid.
Despite boasting a 100% record in EURO 2012 qualifying Group I, Spain had suffered heavy defeats
by Portugal and Argentina in their previous two friendly outings, and they came close to slipping
up again at the Bernabéu, with their opponents spurning several presentable opportunities to
spring a surprise.
Spain coach Vicente del Bosque has named his 21-man squad for next Wednesday's friendly with
Colombia in Madrid. He has also warned every player to be prepared to play the full 90 minutes,
despite a request from Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho not to overload the players.
Del Bosque told reporters:
"We care for everyone in whatever we can, but we will demand the maximum.
