I attended 4 of the sessions and both games versus Klinsmann's senior team.
Caleb Porter
First and foremost, if our praise for Caleb Porter hasn't been evident, let me repeat, Caleb
Porter is legit.
Previously, we've been judging him solely from watching his Akron team (on TV and in
person).

Are they the best?
In his last post, Jacques posed an interesting question:
Is it acceptable/effective to select experienced players with incomplete skill sets and little
tactical malleability? Or, is the system Klinsmann seeks to implement better served by selecting
players with less pedigree but with skill sets better suited to succeed in a possession based
system?

Predictably, there are still many outstanding questions regarding Juergen Klinsmann and the US
national team after Klinsmann's second and third games as US coach. On Tuesday, the US demonstrated
sustained effort for 90 minutes and crafted occasional quality sequences against a Belgium team
that effectively pressed the US without the ball and featured dangerous attacking talents.
England will be aiming for the victory they need to all but cement their place for Euro 2012 when
they host Wales at Wembley on Tuesday night. Fabio Capello's men are sitting pretty at the summit
of Group G with 14 points after six games and a win over British neighbours Wales could prove
decisive [.

On Friday, the US showed signs of progress and promise through its possession play and
aggressive tactics without the ball. The revamped central midfield looked far superior as compared
to the game against Mexico and provided optimism for the future progress of the US team under
Klinsmann.

The Klinsmann era of U.S. Soccer began in earnest Wednesday with the U.S. Men's National Soccer
Team facing Mexico in a friendly match just weeks after a deserved 4-2 defeat against the Mexicans
in the CONCACAF Gold Cup final.
Is this what you want?
My Worry is German Soccer
Everyone knows Germany is a consistent international power. They're always a contender.
Gary Lineker* once said:
"Football is a simple game; 22 men chase a ball for 90 minutes and at the end, the Germans
win.
World Cup champ, Euro champ, Germany 2006 coach, Bayern Munich, blah, blah, blah.
Looks great from 10,000 feet, huh? That's the resume/pedigree trap. Don't fall into it, because
it loves to claim victims.
Hopefully it's understood by now that sparkling player resumes don't correlate with quality
coaching.
This is the first of a multi-part series I'm doing on Klinsmann. I want to stay focused and
only talk about one specific theme per post.
Now is the time to clearly set up expectations. Be specific!
What should his charter be?
I've stated this before, but let me repeat not only what I think is achievable, but what
everyone should be in line with.

Congratulations!
Whether you'd like to believe it or not, this is your triumph. I believe Bob was
relieved of his duties in large part due to your collective voices.
Like the last point in my optimistic piece, 5 positive influences on US Soccer in 2010,
suggested, I had never witnessed such a strong and sustained outcry for the head of our national
team coach.
Thoughts on the two trades Thursday that have dramatically changed Toronto FC and set the stage for
new signings once the transfer window opens.

It's been 5 long years of this:
"It was our B-team."
"The players were tired."
"Bradley's tactics were spot on."
"Bradley's tactics were off."
"Bradley should try the youth."
"Onyewu never recovered from his injury.
This Is Our Striker?
1. Watched the game at El Torito (hey it was taco Tuesday). An American fan,
who was surely several tequila shots deep, comes up to us around the 80th minute and says:
"This is embarrasing. I can get 11 of us in here to play better.
3four3 gives you a thumbs up too man
Let's get something straight right off the bat: Dempsey is a quality player. He is one of the
few worthy of representing our country. He has a good touch, a good brain, and is highly valuable
to his club. But World Class?
I know we want one of these badly, but people are reaching and trying to rationalize someway to
place that label on one of our guys.
As we all know playing like Barcelona is the only way forward and if we don't follow
suit the World will crumble into a murky abyss filled to the brim with paella. Soon, full English's
will become continental breakfasts and cups of tea will, of course, befall to
coffee...
Wanna eat this puke!
Sorry guys, you'll have to wait to be known - if ever.
I'm a bit late to the U20 topic, but this is not a news outlet; it is an education outlet.
In case you're not up to speed, we lost to Guatemala and were eliminated from the U20 World Cup
for the first time in 8 cycles.
The Starting 11
This was much much better from the US!
There was some intent to build an attack instead of firing cannonballs up field.
Now for some context and conclusions:
1) The obvious one.
This was not Argentina. Nor was it against a Uruguay, Colombia, Mexico, or any team whose style
is to keep the ball.
As the title suggests, this is me blowing off some steam after reading and hearing stupidities
from people across the web. But there are takeaways here that are well founded.
Is the result all that matters?
It's a damn shame when the majority of the media, and dare I say fans, focus on the 1-1 instead of
what transpired on the field.
The TFC schedule is out at last. Thoughts on the need for a fast start, why MLS does not apparently
want TFC fans traveling, the God Cup/FIFA dates, TSN and fewer afternoon matches and a nice run in.
Comments are always welcome and appreciated.

Juan Argudelo: One of only two with potential
There are pros and cons to watching games on TV versus being at the field.
When it comes to assessing the details of a player's technique, off the ball movement, and
overall awareness, the television can not compete.
