Zona Rayada 08 October @ 08:58 AM EST

I’m Not Objective(ist)

Booked for Dissent 08 April @ 11:34 PM EST

The beauty of The Daily Show and The Colbert Report is that they watch Fox News so that I don't have to. A few weeks ago, Colbert did the following segment about the use of Ayn Rand's 1957 novel Atlas Shrugged as a talking point among conservative pundits. If you didn't see it, here it is.

Wandering Stars

Things and stuff 09 January @ 01:21 PM EST

Liked this story today.

NASA identify wandering stars

Ripples in cosmic gas that resemble speedboat wakes have revealed a new population of young, renegade stars barreling through the universe at more than 112,000 miles (180,250 kilometers) an hour.
The stars appear to be just a few million years old and a few times larger than the sun.

NASA Classic a success

Gruffgoat's Football Blog 27 August @ 06:43 PM EST
For those of you who attended the NASA Classic this past weekend, I hope you agree with me that the tournament was a success.
The field conditions were great and thanks in large part to tropical storm Fay, the weather was awesome for a late August soccer tourney.
Instead of the sweltering summer heat which would normally have been hanging over the players, the weather was windy and overcast – make it a pleasant outing. Click to continue reading...

Indonesia v Cambodia

Jakarta Casual 21 August @ 04:23 PM EST
7-0!
Talk about luar biasa. Indonesia's last internationals have seen them score a single goal against Yemen, Bayern, Malaysia and Vietnam and go goal crazy when they hit two past New Zealand. Now they go and thump seven past Cambodia!
Budi Sudarsono hit four in 25 first half minutes while Charis Yulianto, M Ilham and Bambang Pamungkas finished the route. Click to continue reading...

Atlanta Soccer Reviews > Clubs > Youth

Gruffgoat's Football Blog 24 June @ 05:44 PM EST
This is a continuously updated post on my experiences as a "player's parent" with the local Atlanta area youth soccer scene.
Below is a list of all of the clubs in Atlanta and beneath each is my "review" of sorts. For each review, I have qualitatively assessed player quality, coach quality, and sportsmanship. Click to continue reading...

Endeavour, Dynamo, Olympians and the Champions Cup

Nutmegged 11 March @ 09:57 AM EST
Well, with Dynamo spread across the hemisphere this morning, the main team in Guatemala for tomorrow's opening leg of the CONCACAF Champions Cup against CSD Municipal and Stuart Holden and Patrick Ianni with the US Olympic squad playing against Cuba in Tampa tonight, I thought it an apt time to post this video of seven adopted Houstonians turning the Florida sky a decidedly Dynamo shade of orange early this morning. THREE-M: Mercury to the MNT to MLS

Nutmegged 31 January @ 12:23 PM EST
Look closely for the football. The image you see here at left is a fabulous photo of a previously-unknown crater on the planet Mercury, dubbed the Spider Crater for obvious reasons. The crater was revealed in a photo sent back by the MESSENGER spacecraft when if flew by Mercury a few weeks ago. Click to continue reading...
