There's not much in the way of significant news circulating in the immediate wake of our grossly
disappointing 1-1 draw in Wigan on Saturday afternoon. What we do have, though, is a few
interesting tidbits to touch on. Let's take a look shall we?

The draw for the first knockout round of the UEFA Champions League is complete. The Chels popped
out of that giant serving bowl very early on.
Who'd we get, then? Fucking Napoli.
Dangerous
I think we all agreed prior to the draw that all of our potential opponents in the first
knockout stage of this competition represented tricky ties to navigate.
Adequate Provocation in the Heat of Passion is a legal phrase, used in the American court system to
mitigate a crime from murder in the first or second degree down to voluntary manslaughter. Why
bring this up now, in the context of writing about Napoli? Well, I confess, it's because I've been
having homicidal thoughts about some who don the azzurri kit.
Anyone taking a bet at the start of the season would not have been able to predict how this
would all end up. Manchester City and Manchester United kissed goodbye to the Champions League this
season, and there were few mitigating factors that they could cite as a defence. Manchester United
can point to their injury list and Manchester City can invoke their inexperience, but ultimately
both clubs have resources that dwarf almost all others in Europe.

Group A
Manchester City vs Bayern Munich from the Etihad Stadium, Manchester
Arguably the hardest group on paper when the groups were drawn, the visiting Bavarians may have
thought they'd have a harder time in this section, but already on 13 points and undefeated, they've
already wrapped up the group.

It's quite simple for both Napoli and Manchester City today, if either side loses the match, they
can say goodbye to their chances of moving onto the knock out stages.
City are probably the best team in Europe at the moment if you consider their current form,
however, their hosts Napoli are no pushovers either.
Why Platini and UEFA need to adopt a zero-tolerance approach over fan
violence
Manchester City fans travelling to Naples to watch their team in the Champions League next week
have been warned not to wear club colours. A letter from the club to supporters making the trip,
signed by the operations manager Steve Sayer, says fans should "take care and use common sense" and
"travel in groups where possible".
Only eight games were played in Serie A this weekend due to the bad rain in Naples and in Genoa in
which two games were called off due to the severity of the rain. Sadly people lost their lives in
Italy due to the bad weather. So two big games in Genoa-Inter and Napoli-Juventus were called off
and will be played at a later day.
Here's Gianluigi Buffon showing you how to DO IT - even in the face of an emergency! Juventus'
match against Napoli had to be postponed yesterday for fear of flooding and the goalkeeper promptly
left his hotel. Naples' Mayor Luigi De Magistris ordered the postponement because the pitch was
already soggy and there was concern 65,000 fans could be trapped in flooding or cause traffic
problems.

What with him still carrying a fair bit of sway down Naples way, it wasn't particularly
far-fetched that Diego Maradona should turn out for Napoli's Champions League tie with Bayern
Munich in Bavaria t'other night.
So, when a gaggle of fans spotted Maradona milling around the beer halls of Munich before the
game they understandably got a little excited and started swarming around him, hoping to get a
photo of the diminutive Argentinian legend.
This was Napoli's first ever Champions League match at the Stadio San Paolo in Naples. Last time
the Partenopei competed in Europe's premier competition was in 1990, when they lost on penalties to

Napoli qualified for this season's UEFA Champions League by finishing third in Serie A.
Manchester City is one of the best club in the World. In the last years they have bought amazing
players, such as David Silva, Sergio Aguero, Samir Nasri, Yaya Toure and Edin Dzeko, plus they have
a great manager like Roberto Mancini. However the winning in the match of tomorrow agaist Naples is
not to be taken for granted.

Another day, another 'it couldn't happen to anyone else' tale of Balo-madness.
According to the Beeb, Italian police have requested an interview with Mario Balotelli over a
visit he paid to a known 'Mafia hotspot' in Naples almost a year ago.
Mafioso Balotelli We told you in June that Manchester City striker Mario Balotelli had been named
in a report published by an Italian law enforcement agency over suggestions that he had been
associating with known mafia bosses. The report suggested that Balotelli was given a tour of
Naples' drug-ridden Scampia district by Salvatore Silvestri, of [.
One year after his £28 milion transfer from Inter Milan to Manchester City, Mario Balotelli
doesn't looks in the center of Roberto Mancini's project for the season 2011-2012.
The Italian manager left "Super Mario" in the bench in the first three appearences of
Mancehester City in Premier League and during the summer the forward complained about the city of
Manchester, saying that he would prefer to go back to Italy.
Mario Balotelli and his more-than-a-fling-thing, Raffaela Fico, were seen leaving Manchester's
San Carlo restaurant together earlier this month. It's Super Mario's favourite eatery in the North
of England, which is essentially useless information, unless we want to speculate about how things
are really heating up between these two.
Late May the news hit the internet and other media outlets that Arsenal had signed Velez
Sarsfield winger Ricardo Alvarez. The story soon became muddied by talks of other clubs
interested in the player; the story continued that Arsenal executive Richard Laws had visited
Argentina but broke off talks once the figure of £12M was mentioned.
Revelations of Mario's mad world continue Mario Balotelli claims he is "astonished and
disappointed" after discovering he was named in a police report for associating with prominent
members of organised crime clans. The Manchester City striker is cited in the June 2010 report
after wandering the steets of Naples' notorious Scampia district with Salvatore Silvestri, [.
The San Paolo goal feast that took everyone by surprise Even in a city as superstitious as Naples,
the omens can sometimes be wrong. The fans turning out for the visit of league leaders Inter in
February 1980 had every reason to expect a tense, low-scoring affair. Instead, they were treated to
a glorious riot of goals.
Number 88 (Gokhan Inler) scored a spectacular goal but
did not celebrate... Why?
Udinese has had a truly fantastic season in the Serie A. While their start was terrible, losing
their first four games in the league, they eventually figured out how to play a wonderful and
winning way. While there are players which make the team shine, their success must be attributed to
their coach Francesco Guidolin.

Napoli 4 Lazio 3. San Paolo stadium is once again the volcano it used to be under Maradona. El
Matador is the best player in the Italian league. Naples never looses faith and wins again in the
last 5 minutes of the game after having been led 2-0 and 3-2. Will Naples, the underdog, win the

AC Milan travel to face out-of-form Palermo at La Favorita this weekend defending a five-point lead
over Inter Milan at the summit after 29 games. Inter host relegation-threatened Lecce on Sunday
looking to make it nine league wins in a row at the San Siro. Napoli will try to consolidate third
position in the standings when they take on Cagliari in Naples.
Villarreal left Naples with a draw against Napoli, and have a great chance to progress to the
last-16 of the Europa League.
Chances were few and far between in a match that had been billed as boasting two of Europe's
more attacking sides. For Napoli in-form forwards Edinson Cavani and Ezequiel Lavezzi struggled to
get into the game, with the former having one effort disallowed for offside and both denied by good
stops from Diego Lopez.

Cani has become the latest Villarreal player to sign a contract extension, as his new deal will
keep him at Villarreal until June 2014. The 29-year-old former Real Zaragoza player's previous deal
had been due to expire at the end of the campaign.
Cani's deal follows on the footsteps of contact extensions for Giuseppe Rossi and Joan
