Montreal Regains Hope for MLS Franchise

The Montreal Impact felt like they were duped when they withdrew their bid for a MLS franchise after finding out that the MLS is charging a $40 million expansion fee. The Impact could have been playing in the MLS by 2011 had they followed through with the deal. However, not all is lost for the Canadian soccer team.

Real Salt Lake Prepares For Finals

Real Salt Lake has been in this position before. Last year they won the MLS Eastern Conference but lost the final game. This year Real Salt Lake faces the Los Angeles Galaxy for the coveted MLS Cup. David Beckham has pledged to continue helping the Galaxy towards a victory despite Team England needing him for the World Cup Qualifiers.

Seattle Sounders Eliminates F.C. Dallas

The Seattle Sounders shut down any hopes for the F.C. Dallas winning the Major League Soccer Cup this year by eliminating them from the playoffs. Saturday night's game at the Qwest Fields in Seattle was a saddening loss for Dallas when they let in two goals, ending the game 2-1.

Toronto FC Has Gone From Bad To Worse

The Toronto FC soccer club has gone from bad to worse for midfielder Carl Robinson. Toronto FC are three points behind a spot that would give them a chance to play towards the MLS Cup this year and they have no hope of making it. To make matters worse Robinson collided with a team member during practice injuring his face.

Well it looks as if the Toronto FC won't be getting a jab at the MLS Cup this year. At least not after their performance against the Chicago Fire. Chicago's Brian McBride put a late 78th minute goal past the defense and into the opposing Toronto net.

Toronto FC Keeps Hope Alive For MLS Cup

It was cause for some big celebrations yesterday when Toronto FC defeated the Colorado Rapids 3-2. The game earned Toronto enough points to keep their hopes for the Major League Soccer Cup dreams alive. For the last three seasons the Toronto FC have played in the MLS they have never made it to the playoff rounds.

Danny Dichio Retiring From Toronto

Danny Dichio, Toronto FC's largest scorer has announced his retirement. The 35 year old England native said that he is ready to move onto the next phase of his soccer career.

Another N.Y. Red Bulls Coach Quits, Again

It seems that whenever a team does poorly they just fire the coach. Well I guess they have to blame somebody. It's no surprise that the New York Red Bulls were the worst team in the MLS this season holding a 2-16-4 score.

Times Online reported the other day that David Beckham was booed off of the field after getting an uncontested red card for a deliberate tackle on Pete Vagenas of Seattle Sounders FC. People there said that they were not booing Beckham but were responding to the red card call. Most people believe that the red card was uncalled for.

Beckham Gets Red Card For Tripping

Everyone seemed shocked to see the invincible David Beckham thrown off of the team during a match against the Seattle Sounders last night. Beckham slid into Sounders midfielder Peter Vagenas while trying to reach the ball. He apparently hooked his right ankle onto Vagenas who inadvertently bringing him down to the ground.

Real Madrid’s Washington DC 3-0 Shutout

It almost seemed as if Real Madrid were human when they failed to plant any goals into DC United's net during the first half of the match last night. DC goal tender Josh Wicks made some amazing saves that stunned both fans and Real Madrid strikers alike.

Toronto FC Folds 5-1 To Real Madrid

It wasn't supposed to be a fair match when Real Madrid rolled onto the BMO Fields. They were met by a packed stadium of fans wanting to get a glimpse of the super-team that was freshly assembled this summer. Ronaldo, Kaka and Benzema were all added to the new Real Madrid roster, making them the team to beat this season.

The Vancouver Whitecaps folded 1-0 to the Portland Timbers in last night's game. The Whitecaps FC were scored on at the 30 minute mark by Portland's Ryan Pore after receiving a great pass from Keita.

Beckham Fined $1,000 By MLS

It seems that all the news is about David Beckham these days. The snowball of events have lead up to a new $1,000 fine to Becks by the MLS commission. The MLS said that he acted inappropriately when he ushered a fan to come and meet him on the field. The fan then jumped onto the field and was promptly arrested.

Beckham Challenges Fan at LA Galaxy Game

It has been a challenging week for David Beckham as he is finding his leg on the LA Galaxy field after being absent for most of the season. Beckham, who was on loan to AC Milan was able to play his old team during a friendly game between the two clubs yesterday evening.

David Beckham Returns To MLS Amidst Boos

David Beckham didn't quite receive the warm welcome he was expecting. When he stepped onto the fields in New York he was overcome by a loud boo emerging from the crowd. Beckham, who has been criticized for not being committed to his team or the MLS in general.

Beckham said that instead of being heartbroken by the critics he felt encouraged that he needs to work all that much harder to win his fans back.

David Beckham will be playing his first game since returning from AC Milan last season. Despite the fact that the season started in March, Beckham has been absent to do photo shoots, practice with Team England and finish the season with AC Milan.

If Zidane is in town I suppose it would be impolite not to say hi to other international soccer stars. When Zinedine Zidane was in Canada with his family for the Charity games in Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver, he took a quick jet down to Los Angeles to meet up with David and Victoria Beckham.

FIFA Cancels Los Angeles All-Star Game

Organizers at FIFA headquarters have decided to snub the Los Angeles All-Star soccer event that was to be held last weekend. Everything was in place to host the U.S. MLS All-Star team crew who were to play against a select group of world soccer stars.

Zidane Reschedules Vancouver Game

Zidane was going to cancel his game in Vancouver after a back injury on Canada Day, but I guess sympathy for the fans kicked in and he rescheduled it.

Montreal Will Host French League 2010 Season Opener

The Montreal Impact are not currently included in the MLS but they are a team to be reckoned with. Now they will be able to add host to French League Season opener to their repertoire.

The Impact have been notified by the Ligue de Football Professionnel that their city and venue will play host to the leagues 2010 season opening games next on July 26.

Toronto Squashes Whitecaps in First Canadian Championship game

Toronto FC defeated the Vancouver Whitecaps 1-0 in the opening Nutrilite Canadian Championship games. Toronto had allot to prove as they are currently the only Canadian team in the coveted MLS. Vancouver will be joining in 2011 but the Montreal Impact will have to wait their turn.

Montreal won the Canadian Championship last year with Toronto barely defeating Vancouver for the send spot.

Toronto FC Coach Carver Quits

The head coach of the MLS team Toronto FC, has quit today over what he says are personal reasons. Coach John Carver resignation is effective immediately though nothing will be announced until after Toronto's game against the Kansas City Wizards on Sunday.

Carver was known as a passionate coach who was openly upset with the MLS for not running a proper soccer league.

Beckham Pays MLS to Stay With AC Milan

It looks as if AC Milan will have to pay dearly for the extended loan of David Beckham. The MLS have asked for $10 million in compensation for the use of Beckham after the agreed upon terms. Beckham was supposed to return to his home team of LA Galaxy when the season began in March.

Beckham may even be paying the fine partly out of his own pocket, unusual for a player to be paying to play soccer instead of the other way around.

Montreal Impact Seeks $25M for MLS Bid

Montreal Impact are looking for $25 million to help build a new stadium. The government of Canada and Quebec are being asked to split the burden.

With government spending being spent frivolously for Vancouver's Winter Olympics, there's no surprise that they won the 2011 MLS bid. The Vancouver Whitecaps will be the second Canadian team to join the Major League Soccer association.
