Missouri State Bears, Heath Melugin (2012)
Congratulations to the Bears on their great win at home last night. Wish I didn't have to leave
Springfield for them to get over that hump!
The historic win can be viewed on Mediacom, channel 22 on Friday, October 14 at 7 p.m., Sunday,
October 16 at 1 p.
Tyler Vieth, Memorial HS (IN)
I found stories on a couple of players who have chosen the Missouri State Bears for soccer. More to
come I'm certain.
The first player, Tyler Vieth, is from Evansville, IN but chose not to stay at home for school
although he'll see plenty of the Ace's as they compete in the Missouri Valley Conference.
Missouri State Bears, Johannes Demarzi
Missouri State senior defender Johannes Demarzi was named to the National Soccer Coaches
Association of America (NSCAA)/adidas men's Scholar All-America first team, it was recently
announced.
Demarzi, who holds a 3.37 GPA in political science, recorded a Missouri Valley Conference-high
10 assists during the 2009 season.

Chris Schuler of the Creighton men's soccer team has been named a second-team preseason
All-American by Soccer America, as announced by the publication Tuesday. The junior defender has
started 39 of his first 40 matches at Creighton and helped anchor the backline since his
arrival.
Schuler, a first-team all-Missouri Valley Conference pick and second-team NSCAA All-Midwest
Region selection last year, started all 20 matches a year ago.
Well this is what I consider to be good news. The SIU-Edwardsville Cougars have joined the Ohio Valley Conference with their move to Division I. Unfortunately for the soccer and wrestling squads, there is no men's soccer. The Alton Telegraph reports that Athletic Director Brad Hewitt is in talks with the Missouri Valley Conference to participate as an affiliate, as fellow OVC school Eastern Illinois does now.
The ladies open their season Friday and it's against SEC foe Arkansas. The Bears beat Arkansas
3-2 in 2006 (at Cooper) while they suffered a 0-1 OT loss at Fayetteville last year en route to a
6-11-2 record. The Razorbacks finished at 8-11-1 although only one of the wins came against SEC
opponents.
Some great news out of Gibault IL, where Ryan and Meghan Crawford were recently inducted into
the Gibault High School Hall-of-Fame for their contributions to the schools soccer programs. From
the story in the Monroe County Clarion:
Ryan Crawford graduated in 2002 after a distinguished career that put a permanent stamp on the
Hawks.
