Sir Alex Ferguson does not concede that Liverpool were deserved winners in their 2-1 win over
Manchester United on Saturday and the Scot believes that the league champions should still be in
the FA Cup based on the performance at Anfield.
United fought back from a goal down as Ji-Sung Park equalized Daniel Agger's headed opening goal
at Merseyside but it was all in vain for the visitors as Dirk Kuyt scored late to ensure progress
for the hosts.
Former Manchester United player, Lee Martin, has taken time out to answer a few questions for
RoM on his time at the club and what he's been up to since.
STR: You joined United when you were a kid. How confident were you of making it for the
first team then?
LM: I was never confident I was ever good enough to play in United's first team.
To mark the 25th anniversary of Sir Alex Ferguson being Manchester United manager, Daniel Taylor
has re-released his book This Is The One. This book saw Danny banned from Ferguson's
Friday press conferences four years ago and apparently news of the re-release didn't go down too
well either.

Manchester United censor Phil Jones comments on Charlie Adam 'dive'
• Phil Jones remarks 'too inflammatory' for MUTV to show • Liverpool's Charlie Adam accused
over free-kick Charlie Adam's involvement in Liverpool's goal during Saturday's 1-1 draw prompted
so much anger among Sir Alex Ferguson's players that Manchester United had to censor a television
interview with Phil Jones.

Former Manchester United and Leeds defender Gordon McQueen (59) has been
diagnosed with Cancer of the Larynx and will have treatment at the James Cook University Hospital
in Middlesborough.
McQueen capped 30 times for Scotland was an inaugural part of the great Leeds
side who won the 1973/74 League title going 29 games unbeaten in the process.
Sir Alex Ferguson has admitted that his Manchester United side are completely comfortable with
dropping points at Stoke City given the challenging circumstances.
United received a massive setback leading into the match at Britannia Stadium when in-form
striker Wayne Rooney joined the club's growing injury list and losing Javier Hernandez early in the
game did not help either.
Sneijder's Hannibal Lecter impression, AVB tells Cole to cut out the fags and Ken Bates'
Daily Mail-esque rant
Andre Villas-Boas' Chelsea revolution doesn't stop with a long list of transfer targets and a
possible move away from 4-3-3. Ashley Cole, reportedly a 20-a-day smoker, has been told that his
habit will no longer be indulged as it was by AVB's predecessor, the fag-loving Carlo
Ancelotti.
Sunday, 6 November 2005 and it's the 19 anniversary of Sir Alex's appointment as Manchester
United manager but the celebrations were on hold. A look at the league table made grim reading for
any Manchester United fan. An unusual pallid gloom had descended in and around Old Trafford
following the events that had transpired over the seven days preceding a pivotal encounter.
MUTV are currently running the confirmed squad for this summer's tour of The United States.
Goalkeepers: Amos, Lindegaard, Johnstone with De Gea to follow later. Defenders: Evra, Vidic,
Ferdinand, Evans, Rafael, Fabio with Smalling and Jones to follow later. Midfielders: Giggs,
Anderson, Obertan, Park, Nani, Carrick, Young with Cleverley to follow later.
It's official then, Ashley Young has made the switch to Old Trafford in a deal thought to be
worth £17m after putting pen to paper on a five year contract.
It's a transfer every Villa fan will have a view on, some will be more upset than others.
Personally, I think Aston Villa and Ashley Young had simply gone as far as they could together and
a change was best for both parties.
As a follow-up to my recent post this week about the disappointing behavior from Manchester United
manager Sir Alex Ferguson, BBC Sport announces that a Football Association tribunal has given Sir
Alex Ferguson a five-match touchline ban for his comments about referee Martin Atkinson.
The Manchester United manager was found guilty of improper conduct for criticising Atkinson's
display in the loss at Chelsea earlier this month.
The FA threw the book at Sir Alex Ferguson today, banning the Man United manager for FIVE
matches for his criticism of referee Martin Atkinson after his side's defeat to Chelsea earlier
this month.
Ferguson was handed a three-match touchline ban, with the extra two games triggered from his
suspended punishment for criticising Alan Wiley last season.
Reports have gathered pace over the last twenty-four hours that the Glazers are going to be
bought out by the Qatar Royal family via Qatar Holdings.
A year since the Green and Gold campaign was at its height, it seems the Qataris are close to
releasing the fund that will oust the current unpopular owners.
Sir Alex Ferguson admitted that bottom-ranked Wolverhampton Wanderers deserved their 2-1 win
against Manchester United yesterday but implied that things could have been very different had Rio
Ferdinand played in the defense.
As United surrendered their 24-game unbeaten streak in the Premier League this season, it was
inevitable to wonder whether the Wolves would have been so dangerous in the air against a player of
Rio's caliber and experience.
After witnessing Wayne Rooney score two goals against Aston Villa last night at Villa Park,
Manchester United midfielder Nani tipped his teammate for greatness. Rooney has had a very slow
start to the new season, but his brace appeared to set him back on track as the title-run in edges
nearer.
"Wayne hasn't scored a lot of goals recently but he's been very important for the team," Nani
said to MUTV following his side's 3-1 win.
Southampton 1-2 Manchester United: Observations
Manchester United were hardly at their scintillating best at St Mary's in this rather
contained affair, but then again they hardly have to be to end victorious. There's a running theme
through United's season where they don't need to play particularly good to win a game, they
just don't need to play bad either.
