Luka says that's one for definite Harry. We like a theme over here at The Musings as you may have
noticed. And while most of you are still surfing on cloud nine after Wednesday let me lay on you
something which has stood the test of time: 'Don't count your chickens before they hatch'. Or to
put it another way: don't cackle if you haven't laid.
I reckon a run of the mill, ho-hum recap of this defeat our sixth of the term would represent
the most extraneous of missions. What I really fancy at the moment is a mindless ramble on any
number of things that caught my eye during this eyesore of a match.
One of those days
On with the musings:
• No need to hold any punches here.
It is not a question of the owner having patience. I have said we have set out to build
something new at this club and the club is committed to what we are building for the future.
...
The perspective is we have to win every game if we want to make this a title challenge. There is
no running away from responsibilities, there is no calling this a year of transition.
Under the spotlight. Sebastien in happier days. . The Greg Meyer column. Greg's read the
entrails, studied the runes and examined the charts and has come to the conclusion that we might
just win on Sunday. He's not impressed with our Russian expedition but then why would he be. His
forensic analysis pinpoints Sebastien Bassong as the cause of our downfall and nobody at Spurs

Yesterday, it was announced Steve Nicol would no longer be the head coach of the New England
Revolution. The decision was made after a meeting between the inimitable Scot and the Revolution's
investor/operators (read: owners), Jonathan and Robert Kraft, and was described as a "mutual
parting of ways.
In the wake of Jimbob's thoroughly excellent and extensive Tottenham Hotspur match preview and
tactical musings the other day, I thought As a kind of addendum to that, I would add a piece about
what the manager's were saying on the eve this important game. Bearing in mind the undoubted
quality of the oppostion, this could be [.
Rocking chairs. Porches. Cross-stitching. Some things were made for long international breaks
before worthless international friendlies. Entertaining and insightful sports writing is not one of
them. At least not in these here parts. Instead, we bring you the next best thing random thoughts
and musings sent our way via electronic mail from you the reader.
By J Hutcherson - WASHINGTON, DC (Sep 23, 2011) US Soccer Players -- Most of you are already well
aware that Google's Google+ product and Facebook are engaged in a battle to determine where you
post your day-to-day musings and make your connections. Their motivation is hardly altruistic. Both
are in the advertising business, and tailored ads make them money.
I really haven't got the heart to go through the papers this morning. I haven't the slightest
desire to read the depressing reports of the Arsenal's 4-3 defeat at the hands of Blackburn in the
Premier League encounter.
Neither do I want to read AW's post-match musings. 'Cos, let's face it we don't need
reminding.
Greg's in the loop and is acting as go-between for missives from Luka Modric. He is letting us in
in the correspondance and we at Spurs Musings are grateful for his powerful connections. No
chicken-hearted reactions at Wolves today we hope and with any luck any feathers that fly will be
theirs.Note from Editor.
Think of this as a Funny Feeling Friday column "Part II," with a bit of musings going into the
weekend... TEVEZ Stripped (officially) of the club captaincy, he will have a point to prove and
could outscore Dzeko and ... Continue reading →

BARKER(Philadelphia Union)
I'm back once again to give musings and my views on the Union this week.
BIG THANKS TO ZACH FOR HELPING ME GET THIS TO POST
Sometimes being bored has its advantages.
After an hour of being undercaffeinated while listening to a lecture about the philosophy of
coaching Under 8's waaaaay too early on a Saturday morning, my thoughts drifted to the Orangemen
(apologies to anyone Irish for that reference).
Top Gear comes to Spurs Musings, and I don't just mean the team's performance North of the Border.
An Australian Arthur Daley, just what we need to go with our 'wheeler dealer' manager. Meanwhile
great news for the Meyer family: son Lachlan is now the All Australian under 17 Badminton Champion.
Greg is over the moon, but too modest to mention it himself.

Greetings fellow news junkies I hope you had a happy and safe Fourth of July. The news net is
full, so let's get cracking!
In this week's power rankings roundup, the Union stay level in the fourth spot at MLSsoccer.com
and at Soccer America.
For our latest post. we are delighted to welcome back Phil Ascough; his musings the result of a
debate with a mate in the pub as to which XI has most distinguished the amber and black of Hull
City. We are particularly pleased because Phil has been very busy lately on a new book, Kissing the
Badge, to be published next month but available for pre-order now.
Mrs Jamie Redknapp. As every press opp's best friend, we should've never doubted you. But we
did, because you wore this, this and THAT recently.
By now, you've collected enough paychecks to know how to work a camera lens, we realise.
Throughout your style trials and tribulations, however, we've fostered a weird (we) love (you)/(we)
hate (your outfit) relationship with your red carpet looks.
"It's a 11 month holiday" was Trapattoni's damning verdict after Anthony Stokes pulled out of
Ireland's squad for the Carling Nations Cup. Gio couldn't understand Stokes' reason for not playing
and for him 'fatigue' didn't count as a valid reason.
Much the same way, England and more specifically Stuart Pearce couldn't understand that Wilshere
playing his first full season as a top flight footballer in the Premiership could also be
tired.
This past week, the WCR Top 25 was picked up by several sources in Utah, as well as a few other
locations, in celebration of Real Salt Lake becoming the first American club ever to reach the
rankings. (One result of this was that I received about four times as many hits on Friday as I had
on any previous day in the history of this site.

We're two days away from the Union's away game against the current holders of the Supporters'
Shield, the Los Angeles Galaxy. This promises to be a huge test for the Union, who have quickly
grabbed an important six points in their first two games. Here are some stories on the Union, MLS,
and soccer in general to keep your Thursday going.
The Irish Rover: Madrid For those who have been following 'Spurs Musings' loyally over the years,
well months anyway, and wondering why, I have great news. For those going to Madrid for the Real
Quarter Final game your patience with some of the nonsense, bias and misinformation that you have
had to put up with is about to be rewarded.

Far be it from us to throw stones at 'in-play' fashion faux pas' (anyone who's caught a glimpse
of us on a staff night out would confirm we aren't exactly ‘catwalk ready' as frequently as we
might have you believe) but it would be inappropriate of us not to comment on some of the decisions
on display in the England training session yesterday.
Opening night! I have to admit, it feels so good to be back in the thick of things. Speaking
of the thick of things...plan on tuning in here every week for a little thing I like to call "Match
Musings". Basically it's just me, spouting off my armchair quarterback (or perhaps linking
midfielder if you prefer) noise about the previous night's match.

It's not easy being a dinosaur you know, not in the instant digital world we now have to
inhabit. Now this dinosaur's brain might not be what it was, if indeed it ever was, but to me
twitter and face book seem like forums for airing your dirty linen in public.
Arsenal on Twitter @UntoldArsenal Untold Arsenal on Facebook here By Mike Collins in Canada Well,
As an avid reader of your terrific blog I just thought I would put down a few musings from my
getting on for 60 years of giving hard earned money to AFC; I might just as well have written a

Gregory, Righto, here we are with the final part of my musings on the general state of football

As everybody knows, Spurs Chairman Daniel Levy Josiah Bounderby is trying to move the club from
it's current location in Tottenham to a brand new state-of-the-art stadium in Stratford, near West
Ham in horrible east London.
This proposal actually makes a flabbergasting, finger-tingling amount of financial sense for the
club going forward - to summarize in a way for the foggiest of minds out there, bigger stadium =
more tickets sold = more revenue = increased ability to buy the best players = increased ability to
compete for trophies = increased chance of winning trophies, and oh, they are delicious, almost as
delicious as finely aged cheddar - and yet we've all seen on the television Tottenham fans
protesting vigorously against the move.
Wolfsburg and Bayern drew at the VW Arena in a high-tempo match that was end-to-end and full of
drama this weekend. An early fluke goal by Thomas Müller in the 7′ was equalized by Sascha
Riether late in the game. In between the early and late book-end goals was a game full of stories.
Franck Ribery twisted his knee in the 20′ minute after a clash with Josue.
Today's Guest Post comes from a new Arsenal fan site called ArseneWenger.com. Being specialists in
Wenger's thoughts hopefully they will be able to help us all interpret the great mans psychological
musings in the future..... Wenger's New Player Options for Arsenal's 2010-2011 Defence January is
usually the time when Premier League teams conduct player transfers.
The MLS Combine is rolling along, in Florida and while I was unable to attend to provide first
hand coverage, there are plenty of journalist and bloggers enjoying the annual showcase of new
potential talent. So for this week's Monday Morning Centre Back, I'm going to provide a link
round-up of all the news I could find from this weekend's events in Florida.
2010 was a banner year at World Club Rankings. For the first time, we went over 100,000 unique
hits and we've pulled over 100 members for the Facebook page. I had known that somewhere around 40%
of the hits were coming from the United States and the United Kingdom, but I wasn't sure what the
real breakdown was, so I went to Google Analytics to see where all of you are from.
A few musings ahead of the Birmingham game:
We really need to bring back the energy and pressing we employed to such great effect against
Chelsea, harry Birmingham off the pitch and do not underestimate them at all. They are more than
capable of beating us and really messing up our chances.
