I want to start by wishing everyone a very happy new year full of peace and contentment. My trip
has been a real delight and by visiting town like Amherst and Northampton in Massachusetts I've
been reacquainted with the meaning of the words Quaint and Idyllic. Back in India, I used to enjoy
living and working in town like Udaipur a lot more than I did in places like Mumbai, Bangalore, or
Delhi.

Venky's, the publicly-listed subsidiary of India's Venkateshwara Hatcheries Group, has a series
of football initiatives to coincide with the visit to Pune of the English Premier League club,
Blackburn Rovers, which it bought for £46 million late last year. According to The Indian Express,
Blackburn Rovers will become the first EPL club to visit India when they arrive in Mumbai on 21
July.
Dominant. Impressive. Delightful to watch. I guess that was the most one sided game Arsenal have
played for a long, long time. Wigan aren't one of the league's high fliers but any team would have
struggled against Arsenal in such sublime form. But for some excellent saves by Al-Habsi and a
couple of missed sitters this could have been a cricket score.

It was in the sweltering late afternoon heat of Dubai where Gavin Laws, Head of Corporate Affairs
for Standard Chartered, watched the last group of children leave the football pitch at the end of
the final soccer clinic of the calendar year.
With hundreds more kids having benefited from the chance to enjoy a game of football under the eyes
of Liverpool's acclaimed community coaching team, it was a case of being another job very well done
as Liverpool FC and our main club sponsors again came together to provide once in a lifetime
opportunities for our faraway fans.
Coaches from Liverpool Football Club this morning touched down in Mumbai ahead of the start of the
latest LFC-Standard Chartered Football Clinic and GOAL exchange program.
The clinic, which kicks off in India's most densely populated city on Thursday, is the fourth such
venture Liverpool have participated in since Standard Chartered became the club's main sponsor with
over 500 poor or disadvantaged children receiving expert coaching in Nairobi, East London and Seoul
since last August.
Two intrepid members of the Liverpool FC Foundation will soon be departing for India to send out a
very important message to young girls in the city of Mumbai.
Rebecca Hughes and Jade Adekoya will be spreading the word about the Goals 4 Girls project which is
an initiative aimed at raising awareness about important social issues, and increasing female
participation in football and other sports.
Two Indian business tycoons were reported last night to be lining up attempts to take control of
Liverpool. Mukesh Ambani and Subrata Roy were said to be willing to pay off the club's £237m debt
in return for a 51% stake in the club, according to The Times.
Ambani is India's wealthiest person with a fortune valued at about $20bn.
Shane Warne's charges won their first game against the Kolkata Knightriders in a thrilling match
and he was indeed very pleased at how well his boys are starting to improve on thier game and we
can now anticipate more wins
The Knightriders left it for too late and they did not really attack the bowling of the Rajastan
Royals, their batting was very conservative which actually cost them the match.

Deep within the confines of the Ambedkar Nagar slum in Mumbai, there's a shack, no bigger than a
typical garden shed, that 13-year-old Montesh Bankar is proud to call home
It's a home that houses not just Montesh, one of 2,700 students at the nearby Colaba Municipal
School, but also his mother and father, who have lived there for 20 years, his sister, two brothers
and uncle.
It's finally arrived, everyone. The day we've all been slogging through summer for. The start of
a dreamy ten-month long season of bliss. The Arsenal are playing again. *add triumphant horn music
when technology allows*
The game kicks off tomorrow, Saturday the 13th, at 5:30pm UK time, 12:30pm Eastern, 9:30am
Pacific.
