Adolfo Valencia will be having knee surgery to repair damage cartilage in his left knee. The
biggest reason this took so long to take care of was the fact that Santa Fe and Portland reworked
the loan deal that brought Valencia to Portland as it is still unclear when and where the injury
occurred.

The swelling went down, the MRI was done, and the news came back confirming the worst fears and
least palatable rumours: Lucas Leiva will be out, at best, for the remainder of the season after

The much awaited results of Mauro Rosales' MRI were reported on Tuesday and they aren't so

playoff game at Real Salt Lake "iffy" and didn't exactly sound optimistic that Rosales would even
be ready for the return leg next Wednesday.

An MRI showed good news and bad news for Tony Romo of the Dallas Cowboys. The good news: he has
only one broken rib (it was originally thought he had two broken ribs). The bad news: Romo has a
punctured lung.
While a punctured lung is nothing to joke about, it sounds as if the Cowboys expect Romo to play
in Week 3.

Seattle Sounders playmaker Mauro Rosales will miss the next 2-to-4 weeks with a slight tear in
his right MCL, the club announced late Monday night.
Rosales was injured at the end of Seattle's 3-0 win over D.C. United on Saturday, a game in
which he assisted on two goals and helped create the third.
The biggest news of the day came in the form of a tweet from the Seattle Sounders:
An MRI has revealed a small tear of Mauro Rosales' right MCL with no additional damage. Mauro is
expected to miss 2-4 weeks.
With that, Seattle Sounders' MVP and MLS MVP candidate Rosales will likely be out for the U.

The Philadelphia Union announced today that starting goalkeeper Faryd Mondragon underwent
successful surgery on his injured right ring finger.
Now that Mondragon has undergone the procedure, the Union have made the statement that the
40-year-old will miss around four weeks, which will prohibit him from playing in between three and
five games, including Wednesday's game against the New England Revolution and Saturday's against
the Portland Timbers.
Faryd Mondragon tweeted today that his injured finger has a fracture that will keep him off of
the field for between two and four weeks.
The 40-year-old goalkeeper said that he suffered an "extra-articular phalanx fracture," an
injury that can become progressively worse with physical activity aggravating it.
Groundhog Day. Theo Walcott has been forced to fly home with an ankle injury. Walcott will now
undergo further scans with the new Premier League season just two weeks away. "Theo went home early
and was due to have an MRI on Tuesday," Wenger said. "It is an old ankle injury from the end of
last season.

I meant to write this one up yesterday but I was honestly just far too busy. Not to sound like a
stereotype or anything, but... Mondays...
Anyway, for those who were watching last Saturday's game against the Chicago Fire you'll
probably remember Kevin Goldthwaite going down with an injury in the early part of the game.
As I predicted, the Rapids lost in Seattle by a goal. As I didn't predict it was a 4-3 goal-fest
instead of the expected defensive battle. The Rapids got off to a good start, with a Wells Thompson
goal off a lazy Seattle clearance in the first 5 minutes. Not surprisingly Colorado gave the lead
right back within 5 minutes as the back line was beaten again, for at least the 3rd time in the
first 10 minutes.
The Colorado Rapids hold their collective breath while they await the injury diagnosis for star
forward Conor Casey.
Casey is scheduled to undergo an MRI on Monday to determine the extent of the left calf/Achilles
strain he suffered in the first half of Colorado's 4-3 loss at Seattle on Saturday afternoon.
Today's practice was clearly preparation for the game Wednesday night. As typical player
availability was highly limited, with only O'Brian White talking. There are two non-collegian
trialists in camp - Jordan Graye and Mrisho Ngass. The team is likely to bring in scattered college

Jhon Kennedy Hurtado's MRI Reveals MCL Sprain
Looks like a crisis has been averted and Jhon Kennedy Hurtado did not suffer a serious injury
during Sunday's match against the Portland Timbers. An MRI revealed that Hurtado sprained his MCL.
Reports out of practice suggest he could be back within a week.

After suffering a knee injury that knocked him out of the closing minutes of United's 3-2 U.S.
Open Cup qualifying loss to New England on Tuesday, midfielder Branko Boskovic underwent an MRI on
Wednesday, and the results were negative, meaning the Montenegro international should be available
for D.
Another NBA playoffs, another Andrew Bynum knee injury. This time, Andrew Bynum hurt his knee on
Tuesday night in a game against the San Antonio Spurs. While running down the court, the center for
the Los Angeles Lakers stepped on DeJuan Blair's foot and hyperextended his troublesome right knee.

One day after injuries forced the Seattle Sounder to remove two of their presumed starters from
their final preseason game, it looks like the team's depth will be tested early. On the positive
side, coach Sigi Schmid said Brad Evans was feeling much better and might even be able to play on

Quietly, Rudy Gay has been one of the most improved players in the NBA this season. He has
matured and is playing consistent, smart basketball. However, Rudy Gay will be away from the court
for a while after injury his shoulder. Rudy Gay's shoulder injury will have him sidelined for at
least a month likely longer.
WASHINGTON, DC D.C. United's Steve Cronin suffered an apparent broken left wrist at training camp
in Florida, muddling the MLS club's goalkeeping situation. The injury occurred during practice
