Colorado faced Chivas USA in a scrimmage at the HDC today. A late Qunicy Amarikwa goal from a
Steven Emory assist gave the burgundy boys a 1-0 win. Of course its preseason so its meaningless
but wins are always better than losses. The starting XI (trialists makred with a *):
Angulo* - Cummings - MullanLarentowicz - Castrillon - MastroeniZapata* - Marshall - Wynne -
KimuraPickens
After subs the team finished with the the following lineup:
Cascio - Amarikwa - AkpanThompson - LaBauex - EmoryFreeman - Palguta - Guido* - AbabioJoyce
Guido is a local player playing with the team while they're in California.
No, Drew Moor Isn't Going to be a Timber
... at least not yet! (Kidding!)
Apparently Drew tweeted something the other day that sent Colorado Rapid fans into a rumor
frenzy.
The exact tweet was:
Gettin my game on with K Cooper #2012
I could see how that could be misinterpreted.
I was just going to do a recap of my All-Time Team tonight but the Denver Post had an interesting
article about tension in the Rapids Front Office this afternoon. It seems that Gary Smith is happy
to sign a new contract for next year, but not if he has to continue to work with Technical Director
Paul Bravo.
Fußball und Bier SC Victoria Hamburg 0-2 Meiendorfer SV (06.05.11) Matt Wilkinson is a

time out from his lofty abode, perched up on Saddleworth Moor to visit Germany for a European
Football Weekend....
Obviously the post game focus has been on the Mullan-Zakuani incident. I covered that in length
yesterday so I won't say any more about it other than correct red card to Mullan doomed the Rapids
in the game. Playing a man down for 87 minutes is too much to overcome.
I thought Colorado actually had the better play most of the game but that was partially because
Seattle got an early goal.
An interesting discussion came up on BigSoccer this week about how the Red Bulls have started a
lineup of 11 players from 11 different countries. So I decided to take a look at the Rapids roster
to see how close I could come. I can come up with a Rapids lineup of 11 players who have
eligibility for 11 different national teams, but one has already passed on it.
This year starts on a much better note than the last 3 years. Before our first kick of 2011 we'll
be raising our 2010 Champions banner (I assume)! That's a much better place to be than on a 3-year
playoff drought like last year. With the added CONCACAF Champions League games the Rapids have a
full schedule this year.
