On Tuesday, Suarez was handed the ban and a £40,000 fine after being found guilty of racially abusing Manchester United defender Patrice Evra.
The FA have since confirmed that the suspension could be extended if he launches a failed appeal, but Alejandro Balbi, who is also Suarez's agent, said the Uruguay international was "convinced" the decision could be reversed.

While the Europeans were getting close to the end of their Euro 2012 qualifying adventures, across the Atlantic, the South Americans were only just kicking off their World Cup qualifying campaign.

In a six-goal thriller in a rainy Montevideo, buck-toothed assassin Luis Suarez got foxy in the box(y) to open the scoring in the fourth minute.

As focus shifted to major international matches taking place this weekend, it was a different scenario in South America as the continent began the tedious qualification process for the Brazil 2014 World Cup finals.

Both Argentina and Uruguay won convincingly with La Albiceleste beating Chile 4-1 at home while Uruguay settled for a 4-2 win over Bolivia in Montevideo.

En el inicio, contrariamente a lo esperado incluso por el técnico de Santos Muricy Ramalho, Peñarol no salió con el acelerador a fondo a presionar al rival, sino que tomó sus precauciones defensivas y casi que cedió la iniciativa al equipo visitante.
