We all know that money talks in football, just look at Chelsea and Manchester City for example, but
one club in Europe is going all out to top the lot and that is Russian Premier League side Anzhi
Makhachkala, and yesterday it was announced that Robin van Persie is on their shopping list. There
has [.

Arsène Wenger is in danger of being swept aside in the spate of cash unleashed by Chelsea and
Manchester City Arsenal have been swallowed up by the long shadow of that 8-2 defeat at Old
Trafford.
Samir Nasri Money Talks - originally posted on Soccerlens.com
Samir Nasri's departure means Arsenal lose another world class player after their prolific
captain Fabregas signed for Barcelona a week ago. However the difference is very clear. Fabregas
left after serving the club for 8 long years and he stayed for just 3 years.
Last season's 'prediction' wasn't a complete failure – at least in the top seven. I had Chelsea
pipping United to the title (which looked possible until the Blues bought that misfiring traitorous
foreigner), City and Arsenal in third and fourth, and Liverpool ahead of Tottenham – insane in
retrospect, but still would have happened had Liverpool won its final two matches.
There are many things about football that have remained the same down the years. The fervour of
the fans, the basic concept of sticking a ball in the back of the net, that fact that anyone who
had old man who tried to persuade them to become a Tottenham fan would have been told in no
uncertain terms where to go and what was thought of him, dodgy referees and tapping up.

Last week that fine gent and upstanding journo, Martin Samuel, claimed that Arsenal can no
longer attract genuine world stars, is this right?
For a start lets be honest have we actually ever signed someone at the top of their game?
Bergkamp was a truly world class player, but when we signed him, he was in a massive dip, the
top teams at the time AC Milan, Madrid just were not interested.
Now let me warn all you Chelsea fans for what could be a really busy few weeks ahead at Chelsea.
With the appointment of Andre Villas-Boas at the club this morning, the press and media will go
into overdrive with rumour and speculation of who AVB will want to bring into Chelsea and who will
be told they do not feature in his plans.
- Jason Davis Saturday's performance was a disgusting display from a team ill-prepared and
undermanned. So what does it mean? What was Bob thinking? What was US SOCCER thinking? Why was the
United States playing Spain just a few days ahead of the start of the Gold Cup? Money talks, of
course.
There are lots of posts about Arsenal transfer rumours, but I always like to have a look at the
betting to get a better idea of which clubs are likely to be buying which players. As it is often
said; Money Talks! So I normally have a look at the latest betting every day, so [...]
According to The Sun, Roman Abramovich is getting personally involved in trying to sign the
talented Brazilian Neymar. The article states the following:
"Roman is ready to get personally involved to clinch the signing of Neymar. He's aiming
to talk with him next month to prove how much he is wanted.
A two-way debate about re-introducing standing room at English football grounds has raged since
ever since all seater stadiums were introduced, and both sides of have strong, well developed
arguments to back them up. However, the unfortunate reality is that much of the debate is rendered
invalid by the simple maxim: money talks.
A great number of parallels between Bunyodkor in Uzbekistan and the current headline-making of
Terek Grozny, Russia's version of the 'hey, let's throw obscene money at it' methodology of
team-building.
They've approached the recently retired Ronaldo, landed the recently freed Roberto Carlos (think
Rivaldo) and now have set their sights on a European-conquering striker (a la Samuel Eto'o in
Uzbekistan): Diego Forlan.

The Daily Mirror reports this morning that Arsenal is seriously considering accepting a
£15 million offer to visit Japan this summer as part of their pre-season tour. Arsenal has also
received an offer from organizers in the United States for a similar tour.
The stage is set Sunday for the Premier League's version of the Super Bowl: Chelsea against
Liverpool.
The main story line will be the debut of Fernando Torres in a blue shirt instead of him adorning
the red of Liverpool. The Spaniard has been such a symbol of Liverpool Football Club that it may be
hard for some Reds to stomach the sight of the striker in a club shirt other than Liverpool, but
money talks and Torres made the decision.
Further to Timmy's post the other day:
More American sports nonsense: The Florida Marlins baseball team are playing three home games
on the road next season. They've rented their own stadium out for a U2 concert.
I act all surprised, but the people behind Wembley Stadium would presumably hire out their pitch
for the first ever mole olympic games if the price was right.
After what has felt like one of the most boring transfer windows in recent times, the last few
hours have finally managed to stir some excitement among the rumour-hungry football fan contingent,
while instilling a bitter taste in stomachs for others.
Throughout January, one of the big transfer stories circulating the Sky Sports/Sun/Talksport
rumour mill has been Andy Carroll and Harry Redknapp's supposed adoration.
