Didier and Sala are coming home. Thank the lord almighty. More, after the jump:
Coming up empty
Well it's been a shit sandwich around these parts for the last month- crystallized by that
pathetic/shambolic performance we were witness to on Saturday. So forgive me for latching on to the
tiniest bit of hope, but I need this.
Since I started this here blog just over six years ago I've seen almost 200 games across the
region. I've been to a lot more but for some reason I never quite get to the stadium.
Persipura hosted East Bengal last year in the AFC Cup at Bung Karno so I headed off nice and early
to catch the game.

Thierry Henry's return to Arsenal may last just a little longer than expected, according to
manager Arsene Wenger.
The French striker has enjoyed his brief loan spell at Arsenal, netting a goal in the club's
7-1 win over the weekend.
Dan Borislaw hijacking the magic out of women's professional soccer
What a blow to women's soccer after that magnificent exposition by the US national team at the
CONCACAF Olympics qualifiers. The WPS has decided to cancel the 2012 season after running into a
retaliatory lawsuit bought by the former owner of the magicJack, Dan Borislow.
The members of the U.S. Women's National Team didn't even have 24 hours to celebrate their CONCACAF
Olympic Qualifying Tournament Championship before they received some very bad news on Monday
morning. That news amounted to what would be a pink slip for most of us. The WPS (Women's
Professional Soccer (league)) announced Monday morning, they [.
Official Announcement by WPS press release:
WOMEN'S PROFESSIONAL SOCCER
SUSPENDS PLAY FOR 2012 SEASON
SAN FRANCISCO, CA (January 30, 2012) – Women's Professional Soccer (WPS)
announced today that its Board of Governors has voted to suspend the 2012 season to permit the
League to focus on the resolution of certain pending legal issues and the challenges that now face
the League as a result of its ongoing dispute with a former owner.
The day after U.S. soccer fans celebrated the women's CONCACAF win and their Olympic
qualification comes word that the WPS is on ice for the 2012 season.
Word began to filter out via players and bloggers on social networks like Twitter Monday
morning, and the league officially made the announcement midday.
The owners of the five-team Women's Professional Soccer have voted to suspend the 2012 season,
citing the costs associated with the legal wranglings involving magicJack owner Dan Borislow as the
primary culprit. A formal announcement is set for Monday at 1pm ET.
In a league issued e-mail that was sent to the players on Monday morning, the owners attempted
to find a way to circumvent costs of the lawsuit, but ultimately, could not find a way.
Women's Professional Soccer will announce later today that it has canceled the 2012 season.
The decision was reached after a vote by team owners on Monday morning. Am email was
subsequently sent to the players informing them of the decision.
While details are at present sketchy, the decision appears to be the direct result of the
ongoing legal battles with magicJack owner Dan Borislow.

Philadelphia Union
The silly season got sillier for the Philadelphia Union over the weekend. Following word from
England that Sebastien Le Toux reportedly did not sufficiently impress while on trial with Bolton,
and the news that Danny Mwanga is training for two weeks with Aston Villa, the Union transfer rumor
well still wasn't dry.
As the smoke cleared Monday morning in the city of Milan, there was no question who won the latest
edition of the Derby della Madonnina the night before. The sun shone a bit brighter and
everything tasted a bit sweeter for those wearing the Nerazzurri colours. In a hard fought battle
over 90 minutes, the warriors wearing the black and blue of Milan were victorious.
Winning ugly is something we're all familiar with, despite the doubts expressed in this blog
over the years that's an over-used euphemism for a lousy performance that we've got away with. Call
it resilience or luck if you like, one reason for Spurs' success in this time is our improved
ability to sneak a win when we are off-colour.
Mail: Roberto Mancini wants to win Carling Cup
The immediate reaction to what Manchester City felt was an ill-deserved defeat by neighbours
United on Sunday was played out in a meeting of Roberto Mancini and his staff first thing on Monday

Mail: Stewart Downing back at Liverpool after arrest
Stewart Downing was back in training on Monday morning after his arrest on suspicion of
assaulting his ex-girlfriend. The Liverpool winger looked glum as he was put through his paces just
over a day after being held by police.
The good thing about the festive period is that any disappointments can be quickly offset. Today
we face QPR having dropped a couple of points against Wolves and it's crucial we take all three
today.
In terms of the team news I was expecting some changes today, the most obvious of which was a
rest for Robin van Persie.
On the pitch, Kettering Town have picked up a little of late. Two consecutive draws have lifted
them just out of the relegation places in the Blue Square Bet Premier and, even though the club's
transfer embargo remains in place, they even managed a full substitutes bench their match against
on Tuesday night.
What's worse than having the similar name to an unpopular referee? Being famous and having a
similar name.
Chris Hoy is an Olympic gold medal (three time) cyclist. Christ Foy is a Premiership referee who
had an unfortunate weekend, which then led to lots of unfortunate moments on Chris Hoy's Twitter
feed.
This Is How It FeelsNapoli 2-1 Manchester City (22:11:11)What's it like, as an away fan, to visit one of the most famous
grounds in world football. One that houses fans so passionate and vociferous that the noise from a
goal causes a seismic shift in the city? Lifelong Manchester City fan, David Mayor, reveals
all.
Before we dig into our leftover stuffing and cranberry sauce this Monday morning, a moment of
digital silence for Gary Speed, who apparently hung himself Sunday ending his life at 42.Simply a
sad development and almost unfathomable that an active manager of a national team would do this
while he was employed.

CARSON, Calif. -- The champagne has dried up, the parties are over and now one question
remains.
Just what will the Los Angeles Galaxy do for an encore in 2012?
After winning the MLS Cup, the Supporters Shield and qualifying for the quarterfinals of the
CONCACAF Champions League in 2011, the Galaxy have their work cut out for them if they are going to
repeat their feat next season.
La Galaxy claimed their third MLS Cup in ten years in the early hours of Monday morning European
time, after Landon Donovan's 72nd minute goal was enough to see off a spirited Houston Dynamos
side.

Where to begin?
There are times when perhaps we should just hold our hands up and say well done to both teams,
neither deserve to lose. Go on, share the bloody thing. Won't happen though. We demand winners and
where there is a winner there must be a loser. The crying shame of sport.

Bundesliga blog: Dortmund set for season-defining week after impressive win at FC
Bayern

morning will be a tough one for the Dortmund supporters who have probably undertaken a weekend-long
drinking session.
The ball was in the NBA players' court coming into Monday morning. The players could have
accepted the NBA owners' latest offer and a 72-game season would have begun on Dec. 15. Instead,
the players decided to disband their union and sue the NBA.
After the news became public, NBA commissioner David Stern said that the NBA is now in a nuclear
winter.
Breaking into my own car, Olly Murs fail and still in the FA Cup just
Matt Lawrence has played for seven league clubs including Fulham, Crystal Palace and Millwall,
for whom he appeared in the 2004 FA Cup final during his 16-year career. Now with League Two
Gillingham, his diary will appear on MirrorFootball every Monday.
Well, after the hysteria of yesterday's shirt giveaway (more on that later) things have taken a
rather sober turn this afternoon. Like one of those magic-eye pictures that were all the rage in
the nineties, the details are burning into focus and it looks awfully like another international
break boogieman.
KARE 11 was at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport on Monday morning to meet the 2011
NASL champion Minnesota Stars as they returned from Florida. The team held on to a 2-goal aggregate
lead through the second leg of the championship in Fort Lauderdale, Florida this past weekend. KARE

In a surprising twist, Tony La Russa has retired. The St. Louis Cardinals manager certainly went
out with a bang by leading his team to a 2011 World Seris championship. The 67-year-old manager
retires with the third most wins in Major League Baseball history.
La Russa made the announcment at Busch Stadium during a news conference on Monday morning.
Why the first thing I did on Monday was lump on United for the title and can smell a
north-west relegation hat-trick
The first thing I did on Monday morning was to lump some money on Manchester United for the
title. That will tell you everything you need to know about whether I believe Manchester City can
win the title and go the whole league season unbeaten.
