This is the second ever Union Debate. I posted the first one about 19 days ago, just before my
concussion occurred, so apologies for the lapse in publishing a second one of these fanposts.
My hope is that these drive discussion and activity up on this site, something that I feel is
necessary for the Brotherly Game to become a bigger part of the Philly sports blogosphere/sports
media sphere.
Most sports in recent times have seen huge changes in power as athletes transform their
role from minor pawns in the big game to major players in how their respective sports are run and
administered. I have to admit that in most cases, it has not come a moment too soon as greedy
owners have sought to pillage their sports on the backs of athletes who are restricted to just a
small amount of time to make hay and have their day in the sun.
This week, Amanda and Shana are joined by Dan of The Free Beer Movement in the first segment,
to discuss soccer culture, the games that made us fans, and spreading the soccer love through
intoxicating beverages (in moderation, of course). They review "Soccer Night in America," RSL v.
Chivas and yet another broken ankle, and LA v.
Just some brief thoughts today in lieu of any actual news to report on:
The big thing is that everyone just seems all negative-d out. A sizeable minority booed the team
off the pitch after Saturday's listless 0-0 draw. Twitter is always a haven for negativity, but
it's been so bad the previous couple of days that it has become the dominant story of the day.
