The Egyptian ambassador to Algeria was recalled by Cairo as the soccer feud between the two
countries has now escalated into a full scale diplomatic row.
It is also believed that Hosni Mubarak himself called the Algerian ambassador, Abdel Qader Hadja
hours before the recall of the Egyptian envoy, to voice his grievance over the assaults on Egyptian
citizens who went to Khartoum to support the Egyptian team.

Yesterday, Toronto FC midfielder Dwayne De Rosario was named into this year's MLS Starting XI. It
is the dynamic Scarborough native's fourth time on the year end honours and the third club he has
done it with. Most notably, his appearance is the first for any TFC player.
While De Rosario is enough of a fan favourite, mostly from being local, it is fair to say that his
star has yet to rise to high enough levels in Toronto.

The second division rivalry between the German clubs FC Hansa Rostock and St. Pauli ended with a
2-0 victory for St. Pauli and some Hansa Rostock supporter being on the receiving end of a water
cannon.
Angered by the loss on their home pitch, 500 die hard fans of FC Hansa Rostock tried to breach a
police barrier and began throwing bottles and firecrackers.

The FFA: How's your World Cup bid process going in Canberra?
No A-League Licence, no World Cup bid from Canberra. That's what the ACT Government are
saying...and that's what I say.
Yeah, take that FFA.
Who would want a few World Cup games in Canberra in ten years time, a hefty taxpayer bill for us
poor sods, more Mariners stale crumbs in the coming years, and no legacy for football in the
region.

Premier League fans in the United States will once again get the chance to see Burnley take on
their new Premiership opposition. This week it comes in the form of Sunderland at Turf Moor.
When the schedule was initially released before the season started, I doubt that many people
were circling this date on their calendars.

WELL, FP is back for another day - after spending a few hours yesterday with his cousin trawling
through Perth like a couple of wizened tourists.
Though FP was playing the role of the embarrassed tour guide, his cousin was genuinely fascinated
by the city.

WELL, all in all, it was mixed weekend for FP. Arsenal self-destructed against Man United, but
Miron's mob Gold Coast United were finally brought back to earth with a 1-0 defeat to
Newcastle.
And due to a couple more results in the A-League, the Glory climb to fourth position on the ladder
after their win over Melbourne - though Perth fans shouldn't be breaking out the bubbly just yet -
there's still 23 rounds to go, plenty of time before the ladder really matter.

There's been a tinsy-whinsy bit of confusion on the times for the clash and FP may have found out
why.
In the original fixture list released by the FFA, the game was going to be played on Saturday
instead of Friday.

Although Celtic lost to Arsenal 2-0 last night, Cahill's mob got hammered 6-1 on Saturday. With the
Celtic budget around a couple of Everton players, the cheaper ones, we probably did pretty
well.
For me, I didn't watch the game.

In this new series, I'll be taking a look at what I perceive to be some of the biggest myths
circulating about Liverpool FC and attempting to set the record straight. I'll start with one of
the most recent inaccuracies, namely the improbable notion that former Liverpool Chief Executive
Rick Parry signed Robbie Keane.

The most drawn-out transfer of the modern era will reach a natural conclusion this week when
Cristiano Ronaldo officially begins life with Spanish football giants Real Madrid as the world's
most expensive footballer.
Almost 12 months after Spain's capital club first made public their desire to sign the Portugal
international, followed by claims and counter-claims, including a public fall-out involving Sir
Alex Ferguson and an official complaint made to UEFA, Ronaldo is expected to don the famous white
shirt for the first time at his unveiling on Wednesday.

Last summer, we heard numerous reports that Ronaldo was to move to Madrid. A deal was in place.
It was definite. It was going to happen next week. But then, there was some delay; and the deal
would go through the week after that. It never did. No matter for the Spanish press, as they
continued to rinse and repeat the story.
