The Major League Soccer Player Union's release of 2011 MLS player salaries contains few surprises.
David Beckham and Thierry Henry are the only players who earn more than $5 million a year and only
six active players make more than $1 million.
Other highlights:
-- Only eight of the 25 best-paid players (and 21 of the 50 best-paid players) are Americans.
Lost in the midst of the weekend MLS action was the news that Major League Soccer's players
union had revealed the 2011 salaries for the league's players.
To nobody's surprise, David Beckham and Thierry Henry are the highest-paid players in MLS. In
fact, the four highest-paid players in MLS were on the field together in Saturday night's LA-New
York match.
The Major League Soccer Players Union has released their latest update on Major League Soccer
player salaries. David Beckham remains the highest paid player in Major League Soccer. As iron81
pointed out, Marko Maric is the highest paid player on the Chicago Fire. Thierry Henry, Rafael
Marquez, Landon Donovan and Julian de Guzman round out the top 5 current MLS players.
The Sons of Ben are hosting a roadtrip to the match against DC United on Sunday and there may
still be tickets available. The price is a very reasonable $50 for a game ticket and the bus ride.
