Earlier this summer, the football world was shocked by the tragic death of Espanyol captain Dani Jarque, dead of a heart attack at the age of 26 years.

And now, Antonio De Negris, a striker for Greek team Larissa, and a former Mexixcan international who was capped 16 times is dead at 31 years of age of a suspected heart attack.

Brazil announce international friendly vs Oman 17 November 2009

Brazil will get to lock horns with the country ranked 79th in the world when they play Oman in Muscat on 17th November this year.

Three days before, Brazil take on England in Qatar. The squad for both matches will be announced on October 27th. Dunga (photo) is not expected to call up Brazil-based players whose sides are involved in the final stage of the Campeonato Brasileiro.

Benfica secure pair of players with contract extentions

Benfica have secured the services of two players with contract extentions. Benfica have extended the contracts of central defender Roderick Miranda and striker Nelson Oliveira both 18 years of age until the 2017 and 2014 seasons respectively. End of qualifiers story: Brazil 0 – 0 Venezuela

It wasn't the prettiest match in football history, nor was it supposed to be. Brazil had already qualified and Venezuela had almost no chances of qualifying (unless they beat Brazil 6-0 and Argentina beat Uruguay 9-0!), so it was what it was. Dunga did some experimenting and some things are definitely clear: Robinho should never come back, neither should Filipe Luiz, who plays anything but good football.

Brazil ended their WC qualifying campaign with a goalless draw at home to Venezuela. Dunga's side played most of the second-half with just ten men after São Paulo's Miranda was sent off. But with Paraguay losing at Colombia, Brazil finished as group leaders.

For their penultimate game in the WC qualifiers, Brazil take on Bolivia in La Paz and Dunga is expected to make changes from his regular starting line-up. With Kaká, Gilberto Silva and Luis Fabiano all rested, the coach could test Josué, Miranda, and Diego Souza. The latter two have had good seasons for São Paulo and Palmeiras respectively but have yet to secure a place in the squad for next year's finals.

Before the match started, the big question was if Brazil as a team was back to normal levels of Dunga suffering seen in the past game or if the last game was a unseen performance by Egypt.

And before Dunga and the fans could seat to much with that question, Brazil was winning 1-0. Great start for the team that had a squad that tested 3 new players - Miranda replacing Juan, Andre Santos replacing Kleber and Ramires replacing Elano.
